Facet joints were collected from 35 consenting AIS patients undergoing spinal fusion surgery at the Shriner's Hospital for Children and facet joints from 16 non-scoliotic individuals (NSC) were retrieved through the Transplant Quebec Organ Donation Program. The average age was 27.6 ± 7.4 for the non-scoliotic individuals and 16.2 ± 2.6 for the AIS patients.
