Intranasal or airborne transmission-mediated delivery of an attenuated SARS-CoV-2 protects Syrian hamsters against new variants - Nature Communications
Abstract Detection of secretory antibodies in the airway is highly desirable when evaluating mucosal protection by vaccines against a respiratory virus, such as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). We show that intranasal delivery of an attenuated SARS-CoV-2 (Nsp1-K164A/H165A) induces both mucosal and systemic IgA and IgG in male Syrian hamsters.
Intranasal delivery of a rationally attenuated SARS-CoV-2 is immunogenic and protective in Syrian hamsters - Nature Communications
Research described here complies with all relevant ethical regulations and has been approved by the US Food and Drug Aministration Institutional Biosafety Committee. All critical reagents are listed in Supplementary Table 1. Cells and viruses Vero E6 cell line (Cat # CRL-1586) was purchased from American Type Cell Collection (ATCC) and cultured in Eagle’s minimal essential medium (MEM) supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (Invitrogen) and 1% penicillin/streptomycin and L-glutamine.
The PRRA Insert at the S1/S2 Site Modulates Cellular Tropism of SARS-CoV-2 and ACE2 Usage by the Closely Related Bat RaTG13
Virus-Cell Interactions Shufeng Liu, Prabhuanand Selvaraj, Christopher Z. Lien, Ivette A. Nunez, Wells W. Wu, Chao-Kai Chou, Tony T. Wang Kanta Subbarao, Editor DOI: 10.1128/JVI.01751-20 ABSTRACT Biochemical and structural analyses suggest that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) efficiently infects humans, and the presence of four residues (PRRA) at the S1/S2 site within the spike (S) protein may lead to unexpected tissue or host tropism.
SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.7 infection of Syrian hamster does not cause more severe disease and is protected by naturally acquired immunity
SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.7 infection of Syrian hamster does not cause more severe disease and is protected by naturally acquired immunity Ivette A Nunez, Christopher Z Lien, Prabhuanand Selvaraj, Charles B Stauft, Shufeng Liu, Matthew Starost, Tony Wang bioRxiv 2021.04.02.438186; doi: https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.04.02.438186
The PRRA insert at the S1/S2 site modulates cellular tropism of SARS-CoV-2 and ACE2 usage by the closely related Bat RaTG13
Virus-Cell Interactions Shufeng Liu, Prabhuanand Selvaraj, Christopher Z. Lien, Ivette A. Nunez, Wells W. Wu, Chao-Kai Chou, Tony T. Wang DOI: 10.1128/JVI.01751-20 ABSTRACT Biochemical and structural analyses suggest that SARS-CoV-2 is well-adapted to infecting humans and the presence of four residues (PRRA) at the S1/S2 site within the spike (S) protein, which may lead to unexpected tissue or host tropism. Here we report that SARS-CoV-2 efficiently utilized ACE2 of 9 species to infect 293T cells.

Most of the Bible is more than 2,000 years old, and recent archaeological finds, including Dead Sea Scrolls, confirm modern Bible translations are nearly identical to ancient copies. Despite misconceptions, Bibles are word-for-word or thought-for-thought translations from the original Greek, Latin, and various Hebrew writings. Most Bibles explain how they were translated. In the 3rd century BC, 70 Jewish scholars created the Septuagint, a translation of the Old Testament into Greek.
