The peritoneal thromboinflammatory environment is associated with epithelial glycocalyx loss during abdominal adhesions formation
Abstract Postoperative abdominal adhesions develop after most abdominal operations and remain a major source of long-term morbidity. Although thromboinflammation is increasingly recognized in adhesions pathobiology, its relationship with the peritoneal mesothelial cell (PMC) epithelial glycocalyx (EpGL) is poorly understood. Using a rat model of abdominal adhesions, severe adhesions were observed at early (24 h, 72 h) and late (14d) time points.

What sanctions mean for boards
Global investors have long had to navigate restrictions on investments into foreign countries. Rules such as sanctions or foreign investment regimes are used by governments to achieve economic or political objectives by controlling the activities of foreign actors or those who seek to deal with them. Increasingly, these tools are being applied more widely, in less predictable ways, and can change quickly according to political mood, making it important to be ready to manage this potential risk.

Sumner Tunnel congestion called 'manageable'
TRAVEL TIMES increased when the Sumner Tunnel shut down for repairs on July 5, but the congestion has been manageable so far, the state highway administrator said on Wednesday. At a briefing for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation board, Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver said trip times have lengthened, particularly during the morning hours, but congestion has not been that bad. "Traffic so far has been very manageable for us," said Gulliver.
T officials say they have 'reset expectations' with rail car manufacturer
THE HEALEY ADMINISTRATION is hustling to speed production of new subway cars, but the transit system is still years away from getting its full order filled. After a series of revelations about the Springfield plant where Chinese company CRRC is producing new Orange and Red Line cars, including a pause in delivery of new cars for seven months, transportation leaders say production is moving in the right direction, albeit at a crawl.

How to put an end to bus bunching
ANYONE WHO RIDES a high frequency bus route regularly has probably seen a "bus bunch," which is two or more buses on the same route driving together in a group. Bus bunching may appear to be a random fluke, but in reality it is a visible symptom of a bus system that is unreliable, makes poor use of its limited resources, and fails to provide high quality transit service that people need and deserve.
Old North Church grapples with slavery
Winding their way along the red brick and red painted Freedom Trail, Boston tourists eventually find themselves in front of the Old North Church. Their eyes may seek out the bell tower where lanterns famously beamed out - one if by land, and two if by sea - a warning of arriving British troops. But if it's a children's story about Paul Revere's epic solo ride they're looking for, the historians at Boston's oldest church are eager to complicate the narrative.

Current Topics in the North American RICE Industry
In recent years, Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (RICEs) have been utilized in the North American market to generate electric power and provide fast response to load fluctuations. As such, they have had an important role in maintaining a stable electrical grid. While the majority of these units have operated solely on natural gas, some areas have also utilized liquid fuel in order to provide stability where firm gas supply is unavailable or uneconomical.
Letter: Good customer service
By Christopher P. Marks To the editor;I couldn't agree more with Carole Moore and the last two out of three Sunday articles about the customer service she received from a certain company. Such a shame. But it did make me want to write about a company that really does care about their customers, although the customer changes almost everyday.Universal Resorts in Orlando Florida. One would think there couldn't be a whole lot wrong with a visit to an amusement park.
Experimental Investigation of Total Pressure Loss Development in a Highly Loaded Low-Pressure Turbine Cascade
Improvements in turbine design methods have resulted in the development of blade profiles with both high lift and good Reynolds lapse characteristics. An increase in aerodynamic loading of blades in the low-pressure turbine (LPT) section of aircraft gas turbine engines has the potential to reduce engine weight or increase power extraction. Increased blade loading means larger pressure gradients and increased secondary losses near the endwall.
