What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means turning your writing into a tool that readers can use to understand the world or better their lives in some way.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
My laptop, numerous SEO, editing, and writing tools, and a black cat that keeps me company whenever I'm writing.

LinkedIn and TikTok.

Why did you become a journalist?
I learned from an early age that one of my strongest skills was writing, so I made it the career I get to do every day.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Unfortunately, my high school didn't have a newspaper (yay small towns), but I was a reporter for my college newspaper.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
All of my LGBTQIA -based pieces because they offer support for my community, which is often hard to come by.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't limit yourself to just one niche. Expanding what you write about can only make you a better writer.
What's your favorite drink?
Brandy and lemonade (together).
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Camping in the woods with my husband and dog.

My local newspaper.
