THE FALL OF GONDOLIN
Father-and-son narrators deliver this literary collaboration between Christopher Tolkien and his father, J.R.R. Tolkien. Samuel West narrates various incomplete versions of Tolkien's story of Tuor's journey to Gondolin and the fate of that city, handling the elevated style and the many fantastic names of people and places with aplomb. Timothy West interjects with Christopher Tolkien's extensive editorial notes.
Pád Gondolinu - J. R. R. Tolkien
O knize Pád Gondolinu Čtenáři Hobita a Pána prstenů vědí, že J. R. R. Tolkien zasadil tyto příběhy do propracovaného světa, jehož kořeny sahají do mnohem hlubší minulosti. Některé příběhy z dávnověku jeho světa známe zdíky úsilí Christophera Tolkiena, který otcovy příběhy rekonstruuje z rukopisných verzí.
Tolkien, J. R. R., Tolkien, Christopher, Tolkien, J. R. R.: Amazon.es: Libros
This review is for the 2021 de luxe slipcased edition. This is an outstandingly beautiful edition of The Silmarillion. Cloth bound, beautifully printed and with Ted Nasmith’s wonderful illustrations on a matt paper, which I actually prefer to the glossy paper on the previous illustrations. The map of Beleriand is printed separately in colour. If you’re a lover of Tolkien then, trust me, you will want this on your shelf. Some people find the Silmarillion hard going.
The Fall of Gondolin
The unexpected release of this posthumous novel from the mind of the great J.R.R. Tolkien is bittersweet. It was referred to at the time of its origin in 1955 as “the first real story of this imaginary world.” For those not familiar with Tolkien, the imaginary world that is referred to is the world of Middle-earth that brought us some of the greatest works ever penned in modern literature, including THE HOBBIT and THE LORD OF THE RINGS.
"The Fall of Gondolin" - An evening with legendary J.R.R. Tolkien illustrator, Alan Lee
Join us with Alan Lee, the illustrator behind much of the iconic artwork of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth series, as he talks about his work and signs copies of the latest edition in the canon - Following his presentation of Christopher Tolkien has used the same 'history in sequence' mode in the writing of this edition of . In the words of J.R.R. Tolkien, it was "the first real story of this imaginary world" and, together with , he regarded it as one of the three 'Great Tales' of the Elder Days.

Tolkien created the City of Seven Names, the seat of the stone-enchanted legend of The Fall of Gondolin.
Books by J R R Tolkien
John Ronald Reuel or JRR Tolkien (1892-1973) was a professor of Anglo-Saxon and later of English language and literature at Oxford University, best known for writing two fantasy novels: The Hobbit (1937) and The Lord of the Rings (1954-5). He was of the generation of Englishmen who fought in World War I.
New Tolkien fantasy inspired by author's own romance
“It’s the job that’s never started as takes longest to finish,” J.R.R. Tolkien once wrote. While that’s technically true, his newest book, “Beren and Lúthien,” edited by his son Christopher, went on sale last week — about a century after he first conceived it. Tolkien wrote volumes of unpublished materials set in his mythical Middle-earth of the “Lord of the Rings” series.

Artušův pád / The Fall of Arthur
O knize Artušův pád / The Fall of Arthur Ve třicátých letech se J. R. R. Tolkien, veden svou profesí i zájmem o starou literaturu, pokusil přebásnit staroanglickým aliterativním veršem nesmrtelný příběh o králi Artušovi.
You Took the Last Bus Home by Brian Bilston | Waterstones
You Took the Last Bus Home is the first and long-awaited collection of ingeniously hilarious and surprisingly touching poems from Brian Bilston, the mysterious 'Poet Laureate of Twitter'.
Beowulf: A Translation and Commentary
New York Times bestseller J.R.R. Tolkien completed his translation of Beowulf in 1926: he returned to it later to make hasty corrections, but seems never to have considered its publication. This edition includes an illuminating written commentary on the poem by the translator himself, drawn from a series of lectures he gave at Oxford in the 1930s. His creative attention to detail in these lectures gives rise to a sense of the immediacy and clarity of his vision.
Narn i Chin Húrin: J.R.R. Tolkien, Christopher Tolkien, Alan Lee: 9780547086057: Amazon.com: Books
Taking place in the distant past of the Middle Earth most people know from the "Lord of the Rings," the "Children of Hurin" is a poignantly beautiful gem from JRR Tolkien's literary world. Before great cataclysms that altered the very substance of Middle Earth, the High Elves were allied with three great Houses of Men in a proud and hopeless struggle against the original Dark Enemy.
