Custom & Bespoke Watch Straps - show what you have, share your experiences
I've been dabbling for the last couple of years in ordering custom watch straps. I thought I'd share here the small selection I've bought and share some experiences with the two companies I've dealt with. I'd invite others to also share their experiences here - photos of course and any insights on the ordering experience, options offered, cost, shipping flexibility as well as the feel and quality of the finished article. It took me a long time to pull the trigger on a custom strap.
JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar on “casual” CF custom strap
I’ve owned this watch for some years, but I’ve often found it “difficult” to find occasions to wear on the stock black, shiny alligator strap given I don’t have a dressy lifestyle outside of work and I no longer work in an office where business shirt and trousers are the norm. To make it more versatile, I ordered a custom strap calfskin strap in indigo blue from Camille Fournet. First impressions are very nice and I feel it will grace my wrist much more often.
New moon 🌝 Let's get cheeky!
Anyone sporting a Moonphase will appreciate this day... Especially if you set them the old school way and need to realign the complication 🤭 #1 · Anyone sporting a Moonphase will appreciate this day... Especially if you set them the old school way and need to realign the complication 🤭 Today Omega dropped a brand new Planet Ocean 600m. New case shape, no (somehow controversial) helium escape valve and no date. The dimensions seem quite wereable - 42mm diameter, 13.65mm thick and 21mm lug width...

I hope everyone’s weekend is good. Next work day for me is a week from Monday.
What do you use your chronograph function for?
I was wondering what other members actually use their chronograph functions for. I was never under any illusion that I really needed the functionality of a chronograph (not to mention a tachymeter) when I bought my Speedmaster Date. I wanted it rather because of the sporty / technical look and, as I'm an engineer, I thought it would be cool to have a stopwatch on my wrist.
Why did Omega change from calibre 2500c to 2500d?
some basic info thats not hard to find......shame on me for informing the uninformed in the 'google' era...... notice where it says ONLY ASSEMBLY IS DONE IN OMEGA COMPOUND ETA helped design the 8500 AND makes the parts exclusively for its SISTER company as BOTH are owned by SWATCH #basicstuff
Genuine Omega parts made in China?
#2 · Tons of parts are fabricated in China and assembled in Switzerland. In order to have the 'Made in Switzerland' designation, the watch only needs to derive 50% of its value from Swiss origins. Anything can be made to a high degree of quality if a good QA/QC system is in place, no matter the origin. Much of the Swiss mystique stems from good advertising. Citizen and Seiko also do tons of manufacturing in China. #64 · Seiko definitely uses some Chinese made parts...... but Grand Seiko doesn't.
JLC Master Compressor - Articulated Rubber Bracelet
Joined Oct 25, 2010 · 1,847 Posts Discussion Starter · #1 · Sep 7, 2014 (Edited) I've owned a Jaeger-leCoultre Master Compressor Navy Seals Diver for just over a year now. I bought it on the leather strap but from the beginning was attracted to the articulated rubber bracelet. I've long hesitated about actually ordering one though, due to the ridiculously high price together with some sense that the rubber coating may not be too hard wearing (which at the price, is hard to contemplate).
Vintage Seamaster - To Service or Not?
Joined Oct 25, 2010 · 1,846 Posts Discussion Starter · #5 · Feb 20, 2011 (Edited) Thanks for the advice. In the end I think I'll leave it for another 1-2 years and then have it serviced anyway. I guess it is a bit of a grey area with respect to the 5-7 year servicing rule of thumb when the watch is not worn regularly, and it becomes a matter of personal judgement vs cost. Incidentally, it has a c. 1012 movement, which I understand was pretty common throughout the 70s and early 80s.
* Official Liquid Metal Thread *
As there seem to be a 'critical mass' of forum members owning Omega watches having Liquid Metal bezels, and based on the suggestion by Dan (solesman), I also thought it would be good idea to start a thread dedicated to information and photos of this rather exciting material application in 21st century watchmaking.I'd invite all members owning the Planet Ocean Limited Edition Liquid Metal watch (cal 2500) to post their photos here, but also encourage new owners of the titanium PO cal 8500 and...
