LA Looks to Get to Back to .500
After losing five straight since acquiring James Harden (six overall) the Los Angeles Clippers according to head coach Ty Lue has been starting to “figure” it out. They are 6-3 in their last nine games and will get a chance to stack up some wins as five of their next six are at home.
First Look at Harden’s Debut
When the trade became official last Wednesday, the Los Angeles Clippers (3-3) much anticipated debut of newly acquired 10x All-Star James Harden was set. What better place to showcase the highly touted former MVP (2018) than in the “Mecca” of New York City, Madison Square Garden! In front of No. 1 fan Spike Lee. Head coach Ty Lue inserted Harden into the starting lineup against the New York Knicks on Monday night. This came after several days of practice to get him integrated.
Harden gets exactly what he asked for, Lands in LA
Back in early August, just two months after the Nuggets were crowned world champions, Philadelphia Sixers star guard James Harden asked to be traded away from a team he played for the past two seasons. After asking for a trade, he ripped Sixers president Daryl Morey. “Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part o.,” Harden said during an Adidas media event in China.
Los Angeles Clippers Outlook Heading into the 2023-24 Season
Most teams that finish in the top six (5th overall) in a tough Western Conference, having dealt with injuries and changes to their roster by the trade deadline, would look at their regular season as a success, but it was another disappointing ending to the 2022-23 season for the Los Angeles Clippers. They fell short of their expectations of playing into late June after being bounced early in the first round.
Los Angeles Clippers End Of Season Report
Expectations A team that came in with so many expectations never got a chance to see it come to pass. That was the 2022-23 Los Angeles Clippers. A team that was picked by some to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals had owner Steve Ballmer fired up before the season got started with all the talent and the depth of his team heading into the season.
Will The Clippers Be Able To Keep Pace Out West Without Paul George?
It’s difficult for any team to build any chemistry, camaraderie, or rhythm when players are constantly in and out of the lineup. That’s the cards head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers Ty Lue has been dealt in this tumultuous 2022-23 season. The inability to stay consistent with rotations and lineups because of health or rest for load management has played a factor for some of the different losing streaks this team has had during the season.
Los Angeles Clippers Mid-Season Report
The Los Angeles Clippers (35-33) currently sit in the fifth spot in the Western Conference with perpetual change in the playoff standings. Head coach Ty Lue has probably gotten his money worth (6.5M) this season despite a number of injuries and changes to the lineup after the trade deadline. Defensive Dysfunction Those issues have plagued this team all season, and it hasn’t fully allowed the Clippers to hit their stride. The team has had 120 turnovers since the All-Star Break.
Does Russell Westbrook Fit With The Clippers?
Russell Westbrook was traded before the deadline by the Los Angeles Lakers to the Utah Jazz along with their 2027 first-round pick for several players. Westbrook was officially waived on Monday after completing a buyout with the Jazz. The fourteen-year veteran received the opportunity to seek suitors in the market. The Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Clippers were all reportedly interested in acquiring the guard.
BSP NBA Trade Deadline Recap
The 2023 NBA trade deadline was a whirlwind and may have been difficult to keep up with all the players moved during that window of time. There were a handful of future Hall of Fame basketball players moved and second-round picks were thrown around like candy. Here is a comprehensive list of all the trades that took place on Wednesday and Thursday leading up to the deadline.
Clippers Trade Deadline Grades
We might have just seen the most competitive trade deadline in history, with so many teams trying to improve their chances of competing for a NBA championship. The trade deadline saw two future Hall of Famers in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving traded within a few days of each other. Durant is heading to the Phoenix Suns and Irving to the Dallas Mavericks.
Clippers Starting To Find Their Way
The Los Angeles Clippers suffered a 112-91 loss back in late October to the New Orleans Pelicans. Head coach Ty Lue is visibly not satisfied with the level his team is performing at. “We’re not a very good basketball team now and we got to change that,” stated Lue exasperatingly. The Clippers have hovered around .500 in the first half of the season struggling with a number of inconsistencies on their roster.
