The opening Rye LTC grass court tournament took place on Sunday, May 25 in brilliant sunshine. The courts were in immaculate condition and thanks go to the club’s groundsman, Adam Stunt, for preparing them to such a high standard. It was good to see so many members at the event. There was a record turnout of 46 players, both members and guests, who were organised into four groups.
The Rye Padel Club Mexicano tournament took place at the Rye Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday, April 7. The sun was shining and the courts were dry for a fantastic six hours of competitive padel. All levels were catered for, with 48 keen players split between three groups. The Mexicano format mixed up the partnerships as the results came in and enabled everyone to play with a variety of different partners.
Showing that pink is not just for Barbie this weekend, Rye padel club held a fun tournament on Sunday. Padel is the fastest growing racket sport in the UK and is a cross between squash and tennis, played with 4 people on an enclosed court. It is easy to learn, very accessible and more social than tennis. Here in Rye we are very lucky to have 2 courts at the tennis club on Military Road.
