What does it mean to be a journalist?

To be curious, to think critically, to fact check sources and admit mistakes when they occur. To strive for objectivity and empathy.

Why did you become a journalist?

I am intensely curious and love to write. I started writing very bad poetry in Grade 2 and have worked hard to improve my writing ever since.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I worked for my university (Waterloo) newspaper as a sports and life reporter.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My new book, A Gelato a Day family travel anthology. To be published in fall 2022.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Just keep pitching. And work constantly to improve your writing craft.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime is good time.

What's your favorite drink?

Water, Oat milk cappuccino
