How is social media changing news?
Social media has allowed news to reach more people in more corners of the world with more speed. It's incredible how fast news travels.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be a journalist means to be curious about the world around you; to be hungry for stories, to seek the truth & to never stop asking, 'Why?'
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
In person. If the person pitching is passionate about the story, I will be able to see it on their face as oppose to an email, text or tweet.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
My iPhone, Twitter, Final Cut Pro, Avid editing systems, iNews, MS Word, and Google, always.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter. I love getting updates in real time. It's the greatest tool in any breaking news situation.
Who do you wish followed you?
No one. There needs to be more leaders in this world.
Why did you become a journalist?
To change the world through the stories of others, to listen to someone's story and then share it with the world--that's powerful.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I didn't work for my high school newspaper but I did write for my college paper, 'The Campus'. I was a general assignment reporter.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime, whether you're in an elevator or bathroom. Any space where you can command the attention of at least one individual is worth it.
