Which fence paint do you recommend?
Hi, I recently moved house, and for the first time, I have a garden fence to paint. Which brand/type is well recommended, please (I’m looking in the cheap-ish to Mid-range bracket, and not the super expensive stuff that I’ve seen like £40 a tub)? For example, I’m looking at the Ronseal stuff which gets very mixed reviews on B&Q’s site. Is there actually any difference to quality between the dearer lasting “5 years” types to the more regular 1-2 years? Thanks!
Todays word is...
lynx Senior Moderator #1 Following from a comment left by @mooperman (Oceangate Titan Sub lost on trip to visit wreck of Titanic.), I thought lets have a word of the day, nothing ostentatious/ too pretentious, just words that we may not hear everyday. We can all load up a dictionary and pick out candidates, but thats not really what I'm getting at, simply words that we only may hear on occasion and may have dropped of folks radar.
Health and safety - vacuuming stairs at work
Goooner Outstanding Member #1 Long story short, my wife does an evening cleaning job and she's now been told that part of her job involves hoovering stairs, which is fair enough.
Black Sabbath Reunite
Iccz Distinguished Member #2 #3 Nice one , I got a text tonight from arguably the biggest Sabbath fan alive today informing me of the download gig . My worry is ,Ozzy is knocking on . How does he remember his lyrics ? How much is overlaid ? #4 I hope they include a couple of dates in Ireland....seen them at The Hammersmith Odeon in 1991 (without Ozzy), and I was sure the roof was going to cave in.

Reproduction Eames Lounge Chair
Dony Outstanding Member #1 Just wondering if anyone here has bought a reproduction Eames chair. If so could you recommend a seller, and also, are they comfortable for regular use, as in used most evenings? The Open Championship - 2025 - Royal Troon Golf Club
richp007 Outstanding Member #1 Well always good to see the old British Weather paying a visit to The Open! #2 Rory having a mare. Looks thoroughly miserable. #3 Loverly weather down here in Kent and will be even warmer tomorrow. Wasn't having a great round this morning, not terrible but not great either . Looked like I would be buying the beers for the lads with the lowest stableford score .

Food you just dont 'get'
jojo01 Established Member #1 I just saw mention of macaroni cheese in another thread but it's something that I have never liked or seen the appeal of. I love pasta and cheese sauce separately, but having them together really doesn't work for me. I have tried it (as a child) but see no reason to try it again. Is there something that others seem to love, but you really don't? P.S. Rice pudding too. Oh, and bread and butter pudding. And trifle. #2 Indian cuisine.
What's the furthest you've travelled to buy an item in person?
Ice Tea Prominent Member #1 If it's not within 10 miles or so i'd either have it delivered or go without. I see some people on the car forums will happily travel across the UK and stay the night in a B&B just to buy some old banger that's neither rare or worth a lot. #2 Sheffield to Bristol and back Was a quality Stainless/Mirrored bathroom cabinet that normally sell new for ~£350 and ebay seller listed collection only and my bid of £40 won. 360 mile in my Hybrid EV at the time, about 6 hours.
Talk to me about Thai food.......
#1 I've recently enjoyed Pad Thai as a side dish and steamed shrimp in dough on holiday and thought it was a really tasty alternative to Indian, Chinese etc. What dishes would you recommend when eating out, cooking at home and which would you avoid like the plague.... I am a keen cook, but not overly confident so nothing that would confuse Heston please Thanks 'My opinions expressed here do not represent those of the AVForums or its associated websites'.

Bundesliga
#1 I couldn’t see a thread about this and as it’s restarted I thought I’d start one to discuss. The lack of atmosphere is very apparent, if this is going to be the norm for football going forward I can’t say I’ll enjoy it as much as before. The two games I’ve watched feel like training exercises with the players not playing as high a tempo as before, whether that is down to lack of fitness I don’t know. It’s also a shame we don’t have the noise from the supporters to drown out Owen Hargreaves.
Robot Mowers
#1 I'm giving serious consideration to getting a robot mower, because although my lawn isn't very big, I am very lazy. It usually takes me about 2 hours to mow it, which isn't really a lot but does eat into the weekend. I've done some googling and have found that the Worx Landroid seems to be the only one that cuts up to the edges - but it looks as though that's only the case with the 700m2 one. My garden is probably about 200m2 so I wouldn't want to pay out for the bigger one.

Effects of the Feed: Water Mixing Proportion on Diet Digestibility of Growing Pigs
Summary Simple Summary: The effect of different water-to-feed ratios on apparent total tract digestibility was evaluated in growing–finishing pigs. Interest in giving pigs wet feed has increased in recent decades. However, there are still many concerns about doing it efficiently. In this study, the effects of different water-to-feed ratios on the digestibility of energy and nutrients in growing–finishing pigs were evaluated.
Hayfever - How has yours been this year?
HD2k15 Prominent Member #1 This year mine has been really bad. Tried Claritin but did not do anything. Used to take Beconase but it gives me anxiety. So at the moment I am just using Neilmed sinus rinse and vaseline round the nostrils and Olbas oil for blocked nose and Opticrom eye drops. This year is really bad. How has yours been?

Birds and other wildlife.
#1 Not the best picture as it is through a window and rushed but what type of bird is having a go at the home made bird cake, it has a yellow beak. What part of a mouse is my cat not eating?
crashcris Distinguished Member #1 Okay, I don't wish to offend any animal lovers but I do own a cat who has free reign outside. She was a stray who eventually found a home with me, but she's still very much a hunter. Last week on two occasions I found a weird bean shaped body part on the living room carpet, one was about 1 cm in length and the other was about 1.5 cm. Then again 2 days ago I found this last one, you can see there's a leg of a mouse and yet again this funny bean shaped organ.
Volvo remote fob problem
mikes48 Prominent Member #1 My wife has a 2008 Volvo C70 D5 which we bought just over 4 years ago. It has about 60,000 miles on the clock - mostly motorway commuting, and a couple of holiday trips abroad. It came with both keys, which have 5 buttons for various functions and a slide-out alloy blade to operate the door locks if the remote locking/unlocking doesn't work - normally due to needing a new battery, according to the handbook.
Six Nations Rugby
richp007 Outstanding Member #1 Wow, no thread for the rugby on here! Great opening match last night, never thought Wales would come back and win it. Another great game here as well, but I fancy the Irish to nick it off us by the end.... #2 Best of the three games so far was in Dublin where the English just blew Ireland away. Looking forward to the game in Cardiff. I thought Wales were lucky as the French imploded but I'll take the result, thank your very much.

Young driver - extra skills tuition etc.
#1 Looking for recommendations, for courses to improve car handling, driving skills in general, skid training, high speed handling etc. Preferably in the NorthEast. I’ve done a day of Ginetta G20 driving at Croft many years ago, but it didn’t really teach me anything, it was more of a ‘taster’.
Belfast Blitz: The Docks Raid
The Belfast Blitz was the name given to a series of Luftwaffe raids on Northern Ireland in 1941. The Docks Raid came on the night of 7th-8th April 1941. By April 1941, the Luftwaffe Blitz on Britain was into its 6th month. Almost every night saw a night-time raid on a British target. The possibility of attacking more northern regions had opened up after the fall of France in the summer of 1940. The Luftwaffe could then reach targets in northern England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

England Football Team - The Future
Greg Hook Moderator & Reviewer #1 No thread specifically on this so thought I would start one! Given our as expected shockingly poor performance in the Euros and the departure finally of Hodgson, what does the future hold for the England team? We seem to be stuck on the same cycle of mediocrity and Managers that are clearly just yes men for the FA.
