Colleen Thompson is an award-winning food and travel writer, photographer, and Editor-in-Chief of Cape Fear Living Magazine in North Carolina. With more than 1,000 bylines to her name, her work celebrates the stories behind food, wine, and place—capturing how taste, culture, and travel intertwine.
Her journey into the world of wine began in Cape Town, among the region’s historic vineyards, where she earned her sommelier qualifications and achieved the distinction of Cape Wine Master through the Cape Wine Academy. Colleen’s work now spans both sides of the border, writing, editing, and photographing for leading publications across the U.S. and Canada.
A passionate advocate for culinary storytelling and craftsmanship, Colleen was recently inducted into La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the prestigious international association devoted to fine dining and gastronomy, as well as Les Dames d’Escoffier International, the philanthropic organization honoring women leaders in food, wine, and hospitality.
