Does Death Stranding capture the essence of the delivery driver? - VideoGamer.com
Curries, postcards, discreetly packaged sex toys: the delivery driver is often the link between you and happiness. Anyone who has played Death Stranding can see that designer Hideo Kojima clearly has a fascination with the person who takes a box from one place and brings it to another. As a child, so did I. That’s why I became a postman. I was enthralled by the freedom, the open roads, the black and white cat.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare review - VideoGamer.com
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare wants you to feel uncomfortable as you pull the trigger in a Piccadilly Circus full of tourists; it wants you to pause before you fire in a North London townhouse full of innocent people. The window for reflection is brief, mind, as the weight of war is lifted by the thrill of nailing a headshot from 400 metres away, or popping a few baddies with your silenced pistol from the cover of darkness.

Concrete Genie review - VideoGamer.com
There are many things to admire about the Concrete Genie protagonist, Ash: a slightly ratty shirt that would cost top dollar from River Island; a slouch beanie that barely contains his Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen-like do; and a pair of Primark hi-tops that are just different enough to Chuck Taylors. The young lad knows the importance of aesthetics: he’s an artist.

Yakuza 3 livestream (because we had to eventually) The Yakuza Remastered Collection is filling in the gaps for everyone that jumped on with the series from Yakuza 0 -- Colm is one of those people. Yakuza 3 came to PS4 about a month ago, and whilst it's taken him a while, Colm's ready to return.

Untitled Goose Game review - VideoGamer.com
Kids love the absurd. A railway train with eyebrows; a labourer with a love for delegating; and a piglet that lives to make her father’s life miserable: children’s television has an ability to draw the young ones in, like broccoli only wishes it could. Whilst the dribblers will gleefully gawk at the block colours and idyllic environments for minutes on end, what will really grab their attention is some added mischief.

Sayonara Wild Hearts review - VideoGamer.com
I can’t highlight the mesmerism of Sayanora Wild Hearts’ shifting perspectives and flickering lights without applauding its masterfully arranged sounds, which have been swirling around my head for the past week. Praising one is to praise the other, such is developer Simogo’s commitment to the unification of both what you hear and what you see.

Deadly Premonition Origins patch coming to fix audio problems - VideoGamer.com
Deadly Premonition's Hidetaka Suehiro has taken to Twitter to announce that the Nintendo Switch edition of the cult classic will be getting an update, following complaints from fans over the buggy port. Deadly Premonition Origins, which was both revealed and released last week on Switch, is marred by frame rate drops and sound issues, like missing dialogue and sound effects.
Gears 5 review - VideoGamer.com
The ‘of War’ bit has been taken out, but don’t expect environments to be devoid of waist-high walls: explosions are still prominent, and weapons remain ludicrous. Although, the series has most certainly grown, from the first instalment, to be more than just gratuitous violence against bipedal maggots. It now has open-world bits; you can upgrade your flying robot friend; and there’s a new online co-op mode where you run away from a gaseous murderer.
Creature in the Well is a marvellous mix of pinball and hack and slash - VideoGamer.com
Creature in the Well is a marvellous mix of pinball and hack and slash After playing the pinball-infused hack and slash Creature in the Well, Colm's decided that all games need a pinball element. It just makes everything better.

Blair Witch review - VideoGamer.com
I couldn’t think, I couldn’t sleep, I could do nothing but replay that movie in my head for days after: The Blair Witch Project was, and is, horror gold. Sure, everything else emblazoned with her insignia has been shoddy, at best, but for those 81 minutes The Witch was queen. The film embraced subtlety. The fear was in what you thought you saw, more so than what you laid your eyes upon.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan review - VideoGamer.com
Remember the Dark Universe? It was Universal Pictures’ grand idea to produce a number of movies based on classic monsters like Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde, Franstein’s Monster, and Tom Cruise. You probably don’t, because the series started and finished with one film. It’s risky business announcing a horror anthology before a single entry’s been released; you could also say it shows intent, ambition, and confidence, of course.

Treyarch's David Vonderhaar asked to 'disconnect' from 'the Call of Duty world' - VideoGamer.com
Game design director at Treyarch David Vonderhaar tweeted a number of puzzling things last night that a ResetERA user spotted; the tweets have since been deleted. In the thread, Vonderhaar stated, 'I was asked by someone I respect to disconnect my day to day with the Call of Duty world I was apart of. I respect that. It makes sense. Before I go ... Good luck to all the Call of Duty World League Esports heros.' Vonderhaar then went on to say 'We have come a long way.
Superhot out on Switch today - VideoGamer.com
It's just been announced during Nintendo's Indie World Showcase that the brilliant FPS-cum-puzzler Superhot is out on Switch. Like, today. You can get it on the eShop. Today. Brilliant. When we reviewed the game three years ago, we said 'Sometimes games just feel right, and Superhot is such a game. It takes something familiar and turns it on its head to create what I expect will become an indie classic.' Now you'll be able to play this indie classic on the go.
Gears 5 Horde mode now has hero shooter-like Ultimates - VideoGamer.com
The Coalition showed off Gears 5's Horde mode during the Inside Xbox presentation at Gamescom and the main takeaway is that each character will have Ultimates. So, all of the standard stuff is here: wave after wave of enemies, build fortifications to keep them at bay, blahdy blah. But, now, like hero shooters, you'll have a different special ability depending on who you're playing as, which can be used once you build up your Ultimate meter.
Mortal Kombat movie's Raiden, Jax, Liu Kang and Mileena announced - VideoGamer.com
The upcoming Mortal Kombat movie has its Jax, Mileena, Raiden and Liu Kang, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Announced over the weekend, Mehcad Brooks of Supergirl will be playing the muscular Jax Briggs; Sisi Stringer will be looking for a breakout performance as Mileena; Thor: Ragnarok's Tadonobu Asano will be taking on the role of weather God Raiden; and Zack from the Power Rangers reboot, Ludi Lin, will be ass-kicking monk Liu Kang.
Sony has acquired Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games - VideoGamer.com
Announced on Twitter, Insomniac Games is now, officially, a part of PlayStation's Worldwide Studios. So, you can probably kiss that Sunset Overdrive sequel you wanted goodbye. Insomniac Games has been releasing games on PlayStation consoles for a couple of generations now: Spyro on the original PlayStation, Ratchet & Clank on PS2, Resistance on PS3, and obviously the celebrated Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4. And that's only a handful of the games from the studio's 25 years.
Ori and the Blind Forest confirmed for Switch - VideoGamer.com
The once Xbox exclusive Ori and The Blind Forest will be coming to Nintendo Switch, it was just announced during Nintendo's Indie World Showcase. The presentation, which you can watch in full here, confirmed the beautiful Metroidvania would be making its way to Nintendo's handheld hybrid at the very end, in proper Columbo fashion. Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition will be available from September 27.
Little Nightmares 2 announced at Gamescom - VideoGamer.com
Bandai Namco and Tarsier Studios announced that Little Nightmares 2 is coming in 2020, during Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live at Gamescom. Dave Mervik, senior narrative desinger at developer Tarsier Studios, chatted to Keighley on stage about the game and revealed that there is a new playable character called Mono -- a friend of the original Little Nightmares protagonist Six.
Journey to the Savage Planet out early next year - VideoGamer.com
505 Games and Typhoon Games have announced that Journey to the Savage Planet is scheduled to launch on Xbox One, PS4, and the Epic Games Store on January 28, 2020. It's also been revealed that the game will feature co-op, if you want to go exploring the planet of AR-Y 26 with your pal. It'll set you back £24.99 at launch. Unveiled during last year's Keighleys, Journey to the Savage Planet was originally slated to launch later this year, but to be fair, it's not like it's been pushed too far.
Devil May Cry 5 and Ape Out confirmed for Xbox Game Pass - VideoGamer.com
The Inside Xbox presentation from Gamescom began with some love for Xbox Game Pass, and there's some absolute delights coming to the Netflix-like service. The two biggies you should take note of are the cracking Ape Out, which is coming to the service this August, and Devil May Cry 5 is available to download from today. As well as those two, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is out today on Xbox Game Pass for PC, whilst Stellaris is available now on Game Pass on Xbox One.
Hotline Miami Collection announced during Nintendo Indie Showcase - VideoGamer.com
Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2 are both available on Nintendo Switch as part of a bundle called Hotline Miami Collection, it was revealed during Nintendo's Indie World Showcase. So, like, it's out now. If you missed either first time round, you can pick up the belter of a double for £22.49. Even if you played them beforehand, you might want to have a look. Hotline Miami on the go doesn't sound too bad at all. Thx for your patience, hope you enjoy it.
Cyberpunk 2077 confirmed for Google Stadia - VideoGamer.com
During Google's Stadia Connect live stream it was announced that CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 would be coming to the search engine's streaming service. Whilst we know the game will be available on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on April 16, 2020, the launch date was curiously down as 'coming soon' for Stadia. Perhaps this means it will be playable on Stadia after it comes to the previously announced platforms. I'm sure there'll be more Cyberpunk 2077-related news over the next few days. Maybe hours.
Gears 5 story trailer has Cole and Nine Inch Nails in it - VideoGamer.com
During Geoff Keighley's Gamescom Opening Night Live we got a new story trailer for The Coalition's Gears 5. The trailer showed protagonist Kait and her Gears pals, and some explosions, and some Nine Inch Nails, and Cole (!). I'm very much looking forward to it; Gears of War 4 was a delight. Gears' Rod Fergusson was on stage with Keighley to chat a little about the campaign, as well as the new Horde mode, which was shown off earlier in the day during the Inside Xbox show.
Yakuza 3 remaster may be announced at Gamescom - VideoGamer.com
A ResetERA user has spotted that German livestream channel RocketBeansTV has posted its Gamescom schedule, and Yakuza 3 was on there for a bit until it was replaced with 'Atlas game,' presumably because we're not meant to know that Sega is showing Yakuza 3 off at Gamescom, yet.
Halo Infinite's creative director has left 343 Industries - VideoGamer.com
Halo Infinite's creative director, Tim Longo, has left 343 Industries, Kotaku has reported. The release window isn't changing, though: the game is still scheduled to launch at the same time as Project Scarlett, next Christmas. In a statement issued about Longo leaving its first-party developer, Microsoft said, 'we are truly thankful for [Tim Longo's] many contributions to our games, our studio and the Halo universe.
