As acting Deputy Director of the US Army's Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate, COL Morris Reese Turner builds on 27 years of military leadership experience. He received his commission as a field artillery officer following his graduation from the US Military Academy at West Point. COL Morris Reese Turner has since distinguished himself as a battalion commander out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he led combat training geared toward six-month deployment rotations in Afghanistan to support Joint Special Operations Command. The two-year project ended in all soldiers returning home safely.
In 2008, COL Morris Reese Turner served in his first human resource assignment as the Field Artillery branch chief in Alexandria, Virginia. He assumed responsibilities in a similar role at Fort Knox, Kentucky, in 2010, as the Operations Division Chief in the Officer Personnel Management Directorate, responsible for 40 percent of the US Army officer corps. COL Morris Reese Turner contributed to selection of senior leaders and promoted an organizational culture of professional development. After a subsequent deployment to Iraq, Col. Turner returned to human resources as commander of the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI), where he prepared a diverse team for Department of Defense leadership. He served in this capacity through 2015 and transitioned into his current position shortly thereafter.
An active individual in his free time, Col. Morris Reese Turner enjoys playing basketball and ultimate football as well as spinning. He is an active member of his church and volunteers regularly with local outreach organizations.
