Connor Brown’s Biography
As a former freelance writer for the Austin American-Statesman and the Texas Observer, Connor Brown is no stranger to the newsroom. Brown graduated from Texas State University in 2018 with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Political Science. In 2017, Brown joined the University Star as a reporter, covering various topics like City Hall, immigration issues and the Texas Legislature. A few months later, she was appointed as assistant news editor where she wrote stories, edited articles, co-managed a team of reporters and participated in production nights for the weekly paper. In the spring of 2018, the Austin American-Statesman hired Brown for an editorial internship where she covered a wide variety of topics including court cases, real estate sales and feature stories. Brown’s photography has also been picked up by the Associated Press and distributed to other Texas newspapers, such as the McAllen Monitor, for a feature story she wrote about an Austin beekeeper. In 2019, she moved abroad to teach English as a second language in Korea. Finding a new passion for teaching, Brown returned to the States in 2020 at the very beginning of the Pandemic in the US to teach high school journalism. Brown’s interests include traveling, photography, archery and vintage motorcycles.
