Corey Lee Bell’s Biography

My main areas of expertise are JSDF procurements, East Asian international relations and geopolitics, strategic competition in the Pacific, and China's foreign policy. However, I am highly versatile, having written articles/papers on a wide variety of topics including East Asian religions and popular culture. Many of my articles have been published by reputed mastheads and publishing houses including The Australian, The Diplomat, The National Interest, the Chinese language Asia Weekly (亞洲週刊), University of Hawai'i Press and Palgrave Macmillan.

I am currently a Project and Research Officer at the University of Technology Sydney's Australia-China Relations Institute (UTS:ACRI). I have a Doctorate in Asian Studies from the University of Melbourne, was awarded the Taiwan Fellowship in 2015, have worked as a lecturer in Korea and Australia, and have served as a visiting scholar in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. I speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese fluently, and can read Korean.
