From Chaos to Keen: AI, CX, and the New Journey
By Cory Root | Trace3 Innovation Principal Language Technology Shapes Client Journey Enterprise technology has never been closer to the client than it is today. Every touch, click, and call can be logged for later optimization. Like the pieces of a puzzle, departments that used to work in siloes necessitated by different cadences, abilities, and locations within the client journey are now united by AI.
The AI Overengineering Trap
With unlimited potential also comes unlimited potential to waste time and resources. Most programming languages since the 1950s essentially have unlimited potential to create new systems (see Turing-completeness for more details). The advent of AI brings this capacity from the realm of pro-code computer scientists to the desk of everyone with no-code and low-code tools.
"False and Misleading": Navigating Generative AI Use and Misuse
If you have to navigate a minefield, it's great to be able to send robots in to deal with the hazards for you. What we don't typically do is sit on top of the robot while it enters the minefield. AI systems give us the ability to send robots into legal and ethical minefields at unprecedented scale - while users responsible are caught riding toward destruction. Generative AI excels at producing written and visual content at massive scale.
Transformation of valence signaling in a mouse striatopallidal circuit
eLife assessment This important study by Lee and colleagues examined how neural representations are transformed between the olfactory tubercle (OT) and the ventral pallidum (VP) using single neuron calcium imaging in head-fixed mice trained in classical conditioning.
The Orbitofrontal Cortex Is Required for Learned Modulation of Innate Olfactory Behavior
The OFC has been shown to be involved in flexible value assignment for odor and we hypothesized that the OFC could play a role in this learning paradigm. Therefore, we used optogenetics to silence the OFC with bilateral halorhodopsin expression. Mice were bilaterally injected with AAV-syn-eNPHR3.0, or AAV-syn-eYFP as a control, and optic fibers were implanted above the OFC. Our injections mainly targeted the ventral OFC, with some expression in the lateral portion (Fig. 2A).
Control of innate olfactory valence by segregated cortical amygdala circuits
Abstract Animals perform innate behaviors that are stereotyped responses to specific evolutionarily relevant stimuli in the absence of prior learning or experience. These behaviors can be reduced to an axis of valence, whereby specific odors evoke approach or avoidance. The cortical amygdala (plCoA) mediates innate attraction and aversion to odor. However, little is known about how this brain area gives rise to behaviors of opposing motivational valence.

Transformation of valence signaling in a striatopallidal circuit
Abstract The ways in which sensory stimuli acquire motivational valence through association with other stimuli is one of the simplest forms of learning. Though we have identified many brain nuclei that play various roles in reward processing, a significant gap remains in understanding how valence encoding transforms through the layers of sensory processing.
Anatomical Connectivity of the Intercalated Cells of the Amygdala
amygdala anatomy FoxP2 ITC rabies Significance Statement The intercalated cells of the amygdala (ITCs) are a fundamental processing structure in the amygdala, yet their anatomy has not been fully characterized. We present a comprehensive input-output mapping of the different clusters using cell-type specific viral approaches combined with quantification of anatomic strength.
