Interview

How is social media changing news?

Social media is actually dictating what news is. Everyone can be a journalist.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

#MetroBabyNames (Baby names modeled after DC's metro system references)

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter

Why did you become a journalist?

There are relatively few writers covering the transformative shift in how and where Americans are deciding where to live, work and play.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes, I interviewed teachers to find out more about their personal history and interests beyond the classroom.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My article 'Miami's Suburbs in the Sky' articulated that Miami's new condo towers don't automatically create to urban vibrancy.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Write often.
