How is social media changing news?
Social media brings individual voices to the forefront. Even if the idea is unusual, it can spark a conversation that can lead to innovation.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Life is not a 20 second clip to be scrolled and forgotten. If someone engages after reading, it is a win for everyone.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email, with a follow-up a week later.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram, although I do not post too frequently.
Who do you wish followed you?
It is not my goal to have more followers, but I would like more people to be willing to have a spirited conversation.
Why did you become a journalist?
After stepping away from a law career, I wanted to pursue a topic, food and travel, that has a way to connect a broad group of people.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
My school did not have a newspaper. During high school, I was a competitive tennis player.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Picking one story is impossible. I enjoy writing pieces that show how food connects people across cultures.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Never underestimate the power of hard work and stay true to your personal beliefs.
When's the best time to pitch you?
M-F 9 am till 5 pm EST
What's the best pitch you ever got?
One time, my own words were quoted in the pitch to show how the story fit into my point of view. It showed that the PR person read my work.
What's your favorite drink?
Cocktail- Bourbon Manhattan with a single cube and one cherry
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Pool, beach or theme park. Any place where it is easy to turn off and unplug.
