Abstract Cryogenic liquids dissipate local heat rapidly, which makes contactless light-driven motion difficult to achieve. Here we show that hydrogen-substituted graphdiyne, a porous sp–sp2 carbon framework with suppressed lateral heat spreading, retains photothermal energy near an illuminated region and drives reversible buoyancy switching in liquid nitrogen.
Quantum-dot (QD) light-emitting diode (QLED) technology shows significant promise for future lighting and display applications. (1−20) In QLEDs, a QD emissive layer is sandwiched between an electron transport layer (ETL) and a hole transport layer (HTL). When an external voltage is applied, electrons and holes are injected into the conduction band (CB) and valence band (VB) of the QDs, respectively, where they recombine to form excitons and release photons.
