Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I got a toy typewriter for my 7th birthday and used it til Santa brought me a Smith-Corona. Fastest typist in my high school class. So--yes.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Word, PowerPoint, Snag-It, GoogleBooks, Internet Archive, Wikipedia, Twitter. Plus I have access to a lot of specialized research tools.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter. Every day I find something that intrigues, amazes, inspires, or delights me. The trick is in deciding who/what to follow.

Why did you become a journalist?

Born writing. Can't stop, apparently.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Think I wrote a few stories--but mostly stayed busy in the drama department. I was our school's correspondent to Co-Ed Magazine though!

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The Constance Project. It's a network of true stories that has kept me fascinated for a year. Self-publishing as a nonfiction serial.

What's your favorite drink?

Wine of any kind, but would happily live on Veuve Cliquot if someone else were paying for it. Love a good martini.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

There's another place?

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Vanity Fair and Paris Review--they balance out.
