Abstract Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is the most common malignancy in the biliary system and lacks biomarkers for personalized therapy. Here, we reported that hepatic leukemia factor (HLF) was highly expressed in gallbladder cancer stem cells (CSCs) and patients with gemcitabine-resistant GBC. Mechanistic study revealed that interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R) and transcription factor EB (TFEB) are direct target genes of HLF.
1 Introduction Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies, and its incidence has been rising worldwide.[1] Due to the inconspicuous symptoms of early HCC, most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage and thus miss the best time for surgical treatment.
Abstract Hepatic leukemia factor (HLF) is aberrantly expressed in human malignancies. However, the role of HLF in the regulation of ovarian cancer (OC) remains unknown. Herein, we reported that HLF expression was upregulated in OC tissues and ovarian cancer stem cells (CSCs). Functional studies have revealed that HLF regulates OC cell stemness, proliferation, and metastasis.
