5 tips to celebrate Halloween on a budget
Halloween is the backInfant. boo! You see, the pandemic has scared many of us too much to celebrate scary season. In recent years, Halloween attendance has plummeted as COVID swept the country. The Iceberg of How – MethodKit Stories
This is part of a series of write-ups I have been meaning to write for a long time, seven years to be exact. This was something that especially was on my mind during Project of How, an online bank of methods that we made 2011–12. During the project we used the Iceberg metaphor to develop our ideas on the Art of reflection. This post is my development of those ideas. /Ola Möller (@olamoller) Founder & Designer at MethodKit, Co-founder of Project of How. With help from Jordan Lane (@herdingideas).

Sask. govt. to sell untouched Crown land in online auction
Some of the untouched, remote corners of the province could soon be yours – for the right price. The Saskatchewan government is in the final stages of preparations for an online auction in which 48 parcels of Crown land province-wide, over 7,000 acres, will be up for sale to the highest bidder. Natural forests, natural prairie grasslands, and natural wetlands are some of the parcels that will be sold off. This is a controversial idea to some.

No kidding: Saskatchewan goat remembered as First World War hero
The First World War was one of the darkest times in human history, but also saw plenty of war heroes shine as a light of hope. One unlikely hero: Sergeant Bill – a goat from Saskatchewan. “He was wounded a couple of times by shrapnel, gassed once or twice,” said Ken Bell, who is the exhibit research and development coordinator at the Broadview Museum.

The city is giving residents a chance to weigh in on the future of the old railyard. The recommended concept plan was unveiled at an open house on Tuesday night. The plan features enough housing for 2,000 people. There will be four high rise towers, with the tallest coming in at 20 stories tall. Cheers as house used by troublemakers torn down
As the vacant house at 1454 Angus Street in Regina came slowly crashing down, neighbours were literally cheering. The house has been a thorn in the side of people trying to clean up the neighbourhood – a haven for prostitutes, drug dealers and other mischief makers. “(There was) a lot of needle use within this house or on the property,” said Shawna Oochoo of the White Pony Lodge Community Patrol.
Province to move to a one region health system
After four months of consultation, a provincially appointed panel has released a report calling for Saskatchewan’s 12 health regions to be merged into one. Health Minister Jim Reiter wasted no time in saying he intends to follow the report’s recommendations with the merger to happen before the end of the year. The province says the move will result in better co-ordination of health services. A similar model is already in place in Alberta where there is only one health region for the province.
Land values and tax rates down for most Regina property owners; but not all
Regardless of whether city council chooses to raise or lower taxes next year, Regina property owners will see changes to their tax bill. Next year is a reassessment year in Saskatchewan, when property values are re-evaluated, and taxation levels adjusted accordingly. Letters will be sent out to Regina property owners at the end of this month, notifying them of the exact changes. The City of Regina says most will see a slight drop in property values and taxes.

The Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics reports that in 2015 the “crime severity index” went up slightly at the national, provincial, and municipal levels.
