Abstract Recognizing the coupling between ferroelectricity and chirality in optically active ferroelectrics opens a route for manipulating chirality via ferroelectricity under an external electric field, enabling control over chirality-dependent quantum states. Here, we report the experimental demonstration of the coupling between ferroelectricity and phonon chirality in the molecular ferroelectric triglycine sulfate.

Biological characteristics and genetics differentiation of smut fungi in Coix L.

Abstract Adlay is one of the most important crops of subtropical regions, and it can be affected by several fungal pathogens, with adlay smut being one of the most devastating diseases. In this paper, two smut fungi strains, ZC202104 and ZC202205, were isolated from infected plants and identified as Ustilago coicis based on morphology and multi-gene phylogenetic analysis (ITS, LSU, ATP6). The two strains showed distinct genetic differentiation in morphology characteristics.

While chemically-induced phase boundaries have enabled ultrahigh electrical and electromechanical responses in lead-based ferroelectrics, precise chemical tuning in lead-free alternatives, such as (K,Na)NbO3 thin films, remains challenging due to the high volatility of alkali metals.

Chiral phonons possessing angular momentum arising from the broken symmetry of a non-magnetic material create the potential for generating spin currents at room temperature in response to a thermal gradient, precluding the need for a ferromagnetic contact.
