Pompei: Observations From Bears-Giants
(670 The Score) The Bears lost a game they should have won Sunday. But the Bears were highly entertaining and full of grit and ingenuity. So it’s an ambivalent Monday for Bears fans. Here are my observations on their 30-27 overtime loss to the Giants: 1. So, the Bears can run the ball after all. The more the Bears run, the more they will run effectively. 2. I wouldn’t have called the timeout at the end of the first half because the potential reward wasn’t worth the risk.
Pompei: Observations From Bears-Lions
(670 The Score) The Bears weren’t just efficient in capitalizing on the Lions' mistakes in their 34-22 victory Sunday. They were also opportunistic. Good teams take advantage of opponents' lapses. The Bears are a good team. Here are my observations: 1. If Cody Parkey had been judged by the same standard that Robbie Gould was, he would've found his belongings in a garbage bag when he returned to the locker room after the game. 2.Writing off a player after 20 NFL starts is bold. But it’s also premature.
Pompei: Observations From Bears-Bills
(670 The Score) The Bears took care of business Sunday against a Bills team that was down, as they should have. But there’s more to it. What shouldn’t be neglected is the Bears were missing Khalil Mack, Allen Robinson and Kyle Long -- who are supposed to be their best defensive player, their best receiver and their best offensive lineman. And the Bears dominated. My observations:1.
Pompei: Observations From Bears-Dolphins
(670 The Score) Well, that was one game few people saw coming. I’m going to call it a mulligan with the realization that the Bears are a young team, and no one expected the defense to be dominant for 16 weeks. But if the Bears get shredded next Sunday by Tom Brady and the Patriots, I’m going to call it a trend. Here are my observations from Chicago's 31-28 overtime loss at Miami on Sunday:1.
Pompei: Observations From Bears-Buccaneers
(670 The Score) Matt Nagy indicated that he and Bears coaches had an idea that Mitchell Trubisky would play well Sunday after watching him practice during the week. But no one could've predicted Trubisky would have had a better game than any Bears quarterback in history besides Sid Luckman. This is why it’s not a good idea to bet on NFL games. Here are my observations:1.
Pompei: Observations From Bears-Cardinals
(670 The Score) The Bears’ 16-14 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday wasn't pretty, but it was gritty. There's something to be said for having the perseverance, poise and patience to come back from being down 14 on road and win a game.
Pompei: Observations From Bears-Seahawks
(670 The Score) General manager Ryan Pace’s two most important draft picks, Mitchell Trubisky and Leonard Floyd, haven’t been carrying the Bears so far. But Pace’s other draft picks, his free-agent signings and his trade acquisitions have been so good that it doesn’t matter. After the Bears’ 24-17 victory over the Seahawks, it’s starting to look like Pace has put together a really nice roster. My thoughts:1.
Pompei: Observations From Bears-Packers
(670 The Score) The Bears played better in their opener in enemy territory than I thought they could. They just couldn’t sustain it in a 24-23 loss to the Packers on Sunday. But they would've beaten a lot of teams that didn’t have Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. My thoughts: 1. Ten years from now when people talk about what a great player Aaron Rodgers was, they will bring up what he did against the Bears on opening night in 2018. 2. Rodgers’ performance was Brett Favre-ian. 3.

Matt Millen 'At Peace': Haters By no means Bought to Him, and Failing Well being Will not Both
DURHAM, Pennsylvania — The door to the home is rarely locked. His seat belt is at all times unfastened. The reminder chimes go off each 20 seconds, and he does not appear to note. The keys to his truck keep within the truck. That is the sort of man Matt Millen is.
