Paging Dr. Mom
In the 1940s, Listerine introduced this popular gadget to broaden its appeal beyond freshening breath. “MOTHERS! GET THIS amazing Listerine Throat Light,” urged one advertisement. Presumably, even minor redness or irritation was enough to suggest a cold or infection.
Lean On Them

Some practices prefer to keep certain tasks in-house, while newer startups or more budget-conscious offices may hesitate to invest in fee-based services without a clear ROI. So how can you be sure outsourcing insurance verifications is the way to go?
The Sky’s The Limit
THE DENTAL PROFESSION is on the ascent thanks to a boundless array of young clinical talent across the United States—a small fraction of which we celebrate in our annual 40 Under 40 (see page 24). That’s all it takes to incorporate BufferPro into your workflow.

I opened my first office during the pandemic, something I never anticipated, but it didn’t feel especially risky because I believe in the importance of standing out. That’s no small task in New York City. There are almost always many options for every type of product or service—and because the market is so competitive, most of them are good.

Dr. CFO
TO THIS DAY, most dentists enter the profession with years of clinical training but little preparation for the financial realities of practice ownership. It’s a skill acquired while on the job, between patients, during nights and on weekends. The danger is that not understanding your practice metrics can hold you back, both professionally and personally. Timely and accurate financial reports aren’t enough. You also need to know how to translate these reports into informed business decisions.
The Fifteenth Annual 40 Under 40
WHAT A DECADE and a half it has been—both for the dental industry overall and for the Incisal Edge 40 Under 40, which has been highlighting some of America’s most talented young practitioners throughout.
