Why did you become a journalist?

As a kid, I watched my parents read a daily newspaper. It was important to them, so it became important to me.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I discovered journalism as a college freshman, I do remember my high school paper's name -- "The Cavalier"

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I've had the priviledge of reporting climate change stories from East Africa, where the world's most vulnerable are feeling the worst impacts

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

A 70-mph fastball from my 15-year-old son.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Outdoors in summer and fall. Indoors in winter waiting for spring, probably with a book or watching sports.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That climate change is 'sciencey' and hard for people to understand.
