Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. In Rotterdam, it was for a classical music show and we used it as an instrument.
How is social media changing news?
Becomes impossible to avoid but also quickly to move onto someone else or a different subject.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Gosh - Murphy Brown is a talented and hot-tempered media personality. The show depicts the world of a single mother and working woman.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use IRig for radio broadcasts. Google Docs and Basecamp
Who do you wish followed you?
I’m a big fan of the BBC Radio 3 team and during Covid-19 became obsessed with seeing ‘home studios’ by some of my favourite hosts.
Why did you become a journalist?
Music is for everyone. And I want to spread the joy music brings me to other people. This is a great platform for me to do this.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I didn’t. I studied as a classical musician and have come to broadcasting and education late but really enjoying it all.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The restoration of the Alexandra Palace Organ.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Read and listen and enjoy art.

Mornings work well but happy to talk about any projects
What's the best pitch you ever got?
We would like you to come on the radio and just tell us why schools should encourage musical activity. Easy!
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Could you play the organ naked for an outreach project and video it......... no thank you

Black coffee
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Walking with my family.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
My lack of experience means I’m not interested in broadcasting on the radio.
