Share Sunshine on a Plate at The Little Kitchen On a grey October afternoon in the picturesque Derbyshire village of Little Eaton, we stumbled upon a true ray of sunshine — The Little Kitchen, a welcoming café with heart, soul, and seriously good food. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm smile from Emily, who showed us to our table and handed over the menu — a surprisingly extensive offering for such a cosy spot.

Walk Derbyshire - Beeley Moor & Chatsworth
Share This is one of the places you may have driven past in recent years, seen the usual ice cream van and lots of cars but thought “I wonder what they are doing.” We have thought this and then carried our drive down the hill in to Beeley and onto Chatsworth for our usual walks. (Sadly the road down into Beeley is closed and has been for some time so this is no longer a cut through). Here on the corner of Beeley Lane / Chesterfield Road you will see cars, always have and always will.

What to Do When Metros Can't Expand Highways Further
As cities evolve, traditional transportation approaches are being tested. The era of simply widening roads to accommodate more traffic is no longer enough. It's time to shift from a car-oriented approach to an options-oriented one, where cars are just one of many transportation choices. This reimagining of how we move people and goods is crucial not only within urban centers but also in suburban areas, where nearly 70% of the population resides.
The lovable villain
By: Emily Robson, Second year, Politics and International Relations Until the age of 10, the hours between 4 pm and 6 pm were reserved for the metallic twang of sword-fighting in Peter Pan, the clipped English accent of Scar in The Lion King and the cackle of Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty. These villains were grotesque, merciless and frightening; hell-bent on enacting various imaginative evil plans to destroy, uproot and conquer.
Forbidden Worlds Film Festival: October 2023
By Dan Hutton, Co-Deputy Features Editor and Amaan Ali, Opinion Editor On October's Friday 13th, horror fanatics from around the country came down to the Bristol aquarium to enjoy 6 carefully selected retro horror movie classics across two days. The Forbidden World Festival, which had its first screenings last year, was created by a group of ‘Bristol-based cinephiles’ who are ‘dedicated to their mutual love of classic and obscure genre films’.
Low-Value Degrees to be Capped
By Maud Humphries, News Digital Editor The announcement came in July from the Conservative PM that the government will take action on higher education courses that they feel are 'low-value'. This action, much anticipated, is in response to the Augar review under May's government in 2017 looking into the quality of courses offered at university.

Many couples deliberately break up before university in order to save the pain of being apart for so long, or because they are not sure whether they — or their partner — is ready to commit. Epigram talked to students in long distance relationships to discover how they navigated the complicated parts of their relationships.

Letter to the Editor: Blackwell Schools failed The Miller Family.

Free and Internal Energies for the Adsorption of Short Alkanes into the Zeolite SSZ-13 from Ab Initio Molecular Dynamics Simulations
Free and Internal Energies for the Adsorption of Short Alkanes into the Zeolite SSZ-13 from Ab Initio Molecular Dynamics Simulations Electronic structure calculations have become a valuable tool in understanding chemical reactions of hydrocarbons in zeolite pores. SPAIS is equipping students to question the status quo
By Daniel Hutton, Second Year Politics and International Relations The movement to decolonise universities has come under significant criticism in recent years, with Michelle Donelan, previous Minister of State for Higher and Further Education, describing it as ‘Censoring history’. Many critics share this sentiment, viewing the movement as an effort to conceal the past. This, however, misses the fundamental point of decolonising the way our universities operate.
One Wedding and the Words We Hoped We’d Never Hear...
News Satire People Food Other By Daniel Hutton on November 19, 2019 in Other The perfect wedding for the perfect family, by Jeremy Greive. Well, I guess this is the final instalment from me. 15 years in. The end of an era. The fight is finally over. That’s not to say The Beast is over. That’s now in James’ court. But the dynamic duo of the Hutton brothers that presided over these pages of The Beast will now be the solo swings of just one. The eldest. Probably the smartest too, dare I admit it.
Relapse - The Beast
By Daniel Hutton on October 23, 2019 in Other Plenty to live for, by Georgie Hutton. I didn’t plan on writing this article. I genuinely thought I was in the clear. A survivor. Cured. Life back on track. Wishful thinking? Maybe. As a cancer sufferer/fighter, there are a few words you really don’t want to hear from your haematologist/oncologist, and while the term ‘relapse’ isn’t as hard to hear as ‘terminal’ or ‘palliative care’, it’s still a confronting and heartbreaking couple of syllables.
