What was your first job as a journalist?

At the Bond Buyer from 1996-2000. With David Kaplan, Richard Richtmyer, Rob Whalen, Ilana Polyak and so many others.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. When I was in high school. Used lots of white-out, too

How is social media changing news?

rather than customizing our own reading experience, we're letting our friends and contacts do that for us and each other

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Mary Richards, Maury Slaughter, Ted Baxter, Lou Grant, Gordie the Weatherman...

Why did you become a journalist?

Because you can talk to people all day long about stuff. Sometimes it's even work-related.

Read everything, fiction and non-fiction. After that, you can take it from there.
