"Forked Shaped Rebound Droplet for Impingement on Anisotropic Superhydr" by David Bilodeau and Dr. Daniel Maynes
Keywords forked shaped rebound droplet, impingement, anisotropic superhydophobic surfaces College Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology Department Mechanical Engineering Abstract Many metals rust when exposed to moisture and that rusting can cause the item that is made of that metal to break down. A superhydrophobic surface can repel liquids and keep metals from rusting longer.
Ultra-Small Scale Hydroelectric as a Supplemental Energy Source
Keywords ultra-small scale hydroelectric, supplemental energy source, water College Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology Department Mechanical Engineering Abstract For centuries water has been used as a source of power; from the middle ages where waterwheels were used for simple mechanical tasks to the 21st century where large hydroelectric power plants supply megawatts of electricity to the power grid.
Boiling Heat Transfer on Superhydrophobic Surfaces
Keywords boiling heat transfer, superhydrophobic surfaces, microribs College Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology Department Mechanical Engineering Abstract In the last few years a great deal of attention has been given to superhydrophobic surfaces and their impact on drag reduction in fluid flow dynamics. Such surfaces are now employed as self-cleaning substrates and it is expected that their use in the coming years will greatly multiply.
The Developing Length of Electro-osmotic Flow
Keywords electro-osmotic flow, fluid dynamics, hydrodynamic development region College Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology Department Mechanical Engineering Abstract Recent advancements in technology have created the need for increased understanding of fluid flow in microtubes with a diameter of a 100μm or less.
"Thermal atomization on superhydrophobic surfaces of varying temperatur" by Eric D. Lee, Daniel Maynes et al.

Simulation of Drop-Size Distribution During Dropwise and Jumping Drop Condensation on a Vertical Surface: Implications for Heat Transfer Modeling
Title Simulation of Drop-Size Distribution During Dropwise and Jumping Drop Condensation on a Vertical Surface: Implications for Heat Transfer Modeling Authors Kinberly A. Stevens Julie Crockett Daniel Maynes Brian Iverson, Brigham Young University - ProvoFollow Keywords heat transfer, heat transfer modeling, drop-size distribution Abstract Accurate models for condensation heat transfer are necessary to improve condenser design.

"Influence of Micro-structured Superhydrophobic Surfaces on Nucleation " by Adam Cowley, Daniel Maynes et al.
Home > Faculty Publications > 2977 Authors Adam Cowley Daniel Maynes Julie Crockett Brian D. Iverson, Brigham Young University - ProvoFollow Keywords superhydrophobic, natural convection, heat transfer, mass transfer, nucleation Abstract This word experimentally explores sub-boiling pool nucleation on micro-structured superhydrophobic surfaces.
"Bubble Nucleation in Superhydrophobic Microchannels due to Subcritical" by Adam Cowley, Daniel Maynes et al.
This work experimentally studies the effects of single wall heating on laminar flow in a high-aspect ratio superhydrophobic microchannel. When water that is saturated with air is used as the working liquid, the non-wetted cavities on the superhydrophobic surfaces act as nucleation sites and allow air to effervesce out of the water and onto the surface when heated.
