Static Cinema 2026
Inversion by Danila Tkachenko
Publisher : Kehrer Verlag 2024 | 144 pages Lost & Found documents a contemporary American subculture of young Travelers through raw, striking portraiture and intimate storytelling. These Travelers abandon home to move around the country by hitchhiking and freight train hopping in a nomadic, transient existence outside of mainstream society. Along their personal journey driven by wanderlust, escapism, or a search for transient jobs, they find a new family in their traveling friends.

Snow ghosts: Soviet military-industrial power frozen in time
Danila Tkachenko is a Russian photographer whose series Restricted Areas crystallises the tendencies of many artists working on themes of the post-Soviet space. As Calvert 22’s Power and Architecture season demonstrates, there is a healthy interest in the abandoned or neglected buildings that once served as landmarks of Soviet ambition: the rack and ruin of utopia. What sets Tkachenko apart is the unforgiving simplicity of his compositions.

. . MOTHERLAND Danila Tkachenko «Motherland» is a memorial project, a farewell to already dead and not functioning constructions. РОДИНА Данила Ткаченко «Родина» - это мемориальный проект, прощание с уже мертвыми и не функционирующими конструкциями.

The project "Restricted Areas" is about utopian strive of humans for technological progress. Humans are always trying to own ever more than they have - this is the source of technical progress, which was the means to create various commodities, standards, as well as the tools of violence in order to keep the power over others. Better, higher, stronger - these ideals often express the main ideology of the governments, for these goals they are ready to sacrifice almost everything.
