Gotrek: The Rememberers Speak
When William King created Gotrek Gurnisson back in 1989,* he could never have expected that the Slayer would still be carving his way through countless enemies thirty years later. Bill passed the torch to other writers a while back, and many scribes have told tales of the Slayer, his human rememberer Felix, and his other companions in the years since. The most recent of these, relating Gotrek’s adventures in the Mortal Realms, are David Guymer and Darius Hinks.
THE INGENIOUS by Darius Hinks Read by Gabrielle Baker
Narrator Gabrielle Baker takes charge of a complicated and strange world, the setting for a dense tale of political exile, alchemy, and raw ambition. The two main characters are from opposite ends of every conceivable spectrum, but Baker recognizes and plays off of their similarities. This interplay between the two characters is central to the audiobook.

THE INGENIOUS by Darius Hinks Angry Robot, p/b, £8.99 Reviewed by Michael Dodd A wild, imaginative original fantasy story from Darius Hinks, The Ingenious is a tale of political exiles surviving in the slums of a grand, magic-imbued city and a reluctant figurehead struggling to come to terms with her fate. It’s a story about power – how it’s found and seized, and what it can do to someone – and control, about inequality and injustice, and about magic, drug abuse and gang warfare.

Waaay back in 2011 I wrote my first Games Workshop novel, Warrior Priest, and over the last seven years, all my fiction has been set in one of the Warhammer universes. There are many advantages to writing in an established setting – building on the work of other creatives, being able to study the existing canon, working with fellow authors on the same extended narrative. Warhammer has had so much thought and attention lavished on it that it’s a joy to write in those worlds.
