Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... Musician Daryl Hall is grateful that a living donor gave him a new kidney. The “Maneater” singer shared the good news with fans on social media. “I thought you should know that I recently received a kidney transplant from a very kind and generous living donor,” he wrote Tuesday night. The 79-year-old singer and keyboardist scored several 1980s hits as half of the duo dubbed Hall and Oates.

Leave a Comment Posted on March 14, 2021 Today’s song is Adult Education by Daryl Hall & John Oates. I’ve heard dozens of songs that share the same message, but this one sticks. Life after High-School is exactly what you expect: exactly the same, just at a different scale. People still care about the same crap. Sad, but that’s human nature. I wonder what the junior wishes? That she could graduate to adult. People never really ‘grow up’. They just get older.

Hall and Oates could emulate the emotive blue-eyed soul of the Righteous Brothers with “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” but the duo’s true strengths were letting it fly with the AM radio funk of “Rich Girl,” “You Make My Dreams,” and “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),” the euphoric rush of “Kiss On My List,” the brainwashing hook of “Maneater,” and the exquisitely over-produced keyboard wash of “Out of Touch.”

Even though it was a Hall solo show, John Oates was in the audience, sitting near me.
