The problem with reviewing an experimental work like Little Penny Dreadfuls: A Collection of 99 Stories of 99 Words can be summed up in the expression about a talking dog: it isn’t what the dog has to say that’s remarkable, but that it can talk at all. It’s difficult enough to write just one story of 99 words, let alone 99 of them, and for that, writers Andrew Garvey and Mike Staples are to be commended.
