Dave Steinfeld’s Biography

I've written professionally since 1999, mainly (though not exclusively) as a music journalist. At the moment, I freelance for The Bluegrass Situation, BUST, Classic Rock UK, Classics Du Jour, FLOOD and The Rock & Roll Globe. I've also contributed to AOL Music (both the Spinner and Popeater sites), Beyond Race, Blurt, Curve, Essence, Long Live Vinyl, The San Diego Union-Tribune, Sing Out, Spotlight, Wide Open Country and all the major radio networks. I have written about women in music more than any male journalist in America and have been part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's voting body since 2016.

I have a BFA in dramatic writing from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and have dabbled in theater over the years. While at NYU, I became the first student in the dramatic writing program to spend a semester in London. I grew up in Connecticut but am currently based in New York City.
