Toyota Prius: The ultimate in endurance racer efficiency?
Good efficiency, ergonomics, visibility, ingress/egress....they probably made up 15 minutes each day on saved fuel and driver swaps. Those big ass truck mirrors probably help with situational awareness. Solid strategy. I don't know anything about Priuses. Are there any ways to upgrade the hybrid system to be more sporting? Increased regen so you don't lay into the brakes as hard? I guess it would require a battery pack that would charge and dump faster.
Go faster in autocross: The apps, sensors and traces you need
One of the keys to going fast is knowing how fast you’re going, and one of the best ways to know how fast you’re going is with some sort of data acquisition system. For road racers, data acquisition has become more or less standard. But where does this leave autocrossers? Has the democratization of data for the track crowd rubbed off on the autocross side, or did the cone crowd get left behind?
Why I'll always autocross
5/25/22 1:33 p.m. I've know Maury for years. We met at a PCA auto-x back in the 1980's. Great guy and we still chat on occasion about the hot auto-x tires and set ups etc. So glad he's still running strong. That gives me hope that I too will get going that long. Cheers Maury...my hero. New Reader 5/25/22 2:25 p.m. Only autocrossers have conversations like this. GRM+ Memberand HalfDork 5/25/22 2:33 p.m. In reply to David S.
What car has nostalgia made more desirable over the years?
Perhaps like wine, many cars can get better with age. However, as some of those automobiles get older, the rose-tinted lenses of nostalgia can often distort our understanding of these cars–often making them seem better than they were when first introduced. What are some cars that really weren’t that great when they were new, but nostalgia has made them more desirable over time? Comments View comments on the GRM forums Pretty much every 80s crapbox. I'd even enjoy driving a Cimarron or a Kcar.
The Nissan AP-X: like a more aerodynamic 300ZX with a CVT transmissi
Can a sports car be both efficient and fun to drive? That seems to be the question Nissan tried to answer when it unveiled this, its AP-X concept, at the 1993 Tokyo Motor Show.
Vintage Views: Dodge Omni GLH
Story by Bill Cuttitta Few cars have earned more scorn from the general public than Chrysler’s compact Dodge Omni. On the enthusiast scene, however, the special GLH package—and later the GLHS formulation—turned the plastic-and-sadness hatchback into a serious performance player. This little demon earned its final stripes when Hot Rod ran an infamous cover that proclaimed, “GLHS Whips GT350!” The compact had trumped a 1966 Shelby GT350 in the magazine’s on-track shootout.
