I'm a journalist with a broad range of interests. As a generalist for online media, newspapers and magazines and as a freelancer, I have written about real estate, business, government, education, crime, and more. I've won several awards at the Virginia Press Association's annual contest in 2018 and 2019 for my in-depth news coverage, including multiple stories on a planned megasite development and a detailed article about a mysterious gas leak. I have specialized knowledge in the field of community planning and development, having worked for three years in a county government planning office; two years at a regional planning agency; and a total of three years as an advocate for progressive planning at non-profit organizations. I enjoy keeping the community I serve informed.
