As you know, Councillor Rowena Santos has been a champion for active transportation on Brampton and Peel Region Council over the past 7 years. Her advocacy helped launch the “Streets for People” program at the city that saw more cycling infrastrucutre being built in Brampton from 2020-2023 than had been built in the previous decade or more. Councillor Santos supported the Region of Peel’s Sustainable Transportation Strategy which included funding for the Community Cycling Program.

In 2018 Brampton Council endorsed Vision 2040, an aspirational vision to guide what Brampton will become over the next quarter century. The vision is about the environment, jobs, urban centres, neighbourhoods, transportation, social matters, health, arts and culture. The vision document includes actions to help make each vision statement a reality. One of the focus areas of Vision 2040 is transportation and specfically active transportation.

When people stress the importance of good communication in data science, they are usually saying something like what Hadley Wickham says in his book R for Data Science: “[It] doesn’t matter how great your analysis is unless you can explain it to others: you need to communicate your results.” In other words, good communication is crucial to data science because it is the final step, without which all prior work would be wasted. But communication is even more important than that.
