Guest Essay: No more delays: NYU adjunct faculty need paid family leave — now - Washington Square News
David Palmer is a member of the Paid Family Leave Organizing Committee within the NYU Adjuncts Union. When a child is born or a parent is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, the moral calculus is simple: You show up. You care for your family. You give them your time. For over 3,000 adjunct faculty members at NYU, that is not so simple.

As a Brand Designer, I Was Living In a 'Design Utopia' — Until I Started My Own Product Company, and Reality Hit | Entrepreneur
I thought I understood my clients' needs. Then I started doing the same work as them — and realized how much I had to learn. It was humbling, but it also made me better at my job. Back in 2001, I cofounded an agency called Love, which designs brands, packaging, communications campaigns, and experiences for the likes of Jim Beam, Johnnie Walker, and Guinness. Over the years, we've come up with a lot of ideas that never saw the light of day; we called them "urchins" — wily ideas without a home.

Review: ‘A Quiet Place II’ is the rare sequel that matches its predecessor
Theaters are BACK, baby! “A Quiet Place Part II” is the sequel to the 2018 sleeper hit, again written and directed by John Krasinski. The film follows a woman and her children (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe) once more having to navigate a world where aliens are hunting them based on sound. Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou join the cast.
Film Review: ‘The Independents’ is simple, but heartfelt
© Photo provided David Palmer “The Independents” is a semi-true story of the formation of the band The Sweet Remains, and stars real-life band members Rich Price, Greg Naughton and Brian Chartrand as fictionalized versions of themselves. Greg Naughton also writes and directs, with Boyd Gaines, James Naughton, Keira Naughton, Kelli O'Hara, Chris Sullivan, George Wendt and Richard Kind also starring.

Film review: ‘The Midnight Sky’ a familiar space film that (mostly) works
“The Midnight Sky” is the latest directorial effort from George Clooney, based on the novel “Good Morning, Midnight.” The film follows a lone scientist in the Arctic (Clooney) who must journey to a radio tower to warn off a returning spaceship (containing Felicity Jones, David Oyelowo, Tiffany Boone, Demián Bichir and Kyle Chandler) after a global catastrophe on Earth. George Clooney is a very interesting director.
FILM REVIEW: ‘Nomadland’ is simplistic filmmaking at its finest
Sometimes the best way is the simplest one. “Nomadland” stars Frances McDormand as a woman who lives out of her van, traveling the Midwest. Chloé Zhao writes, directs and edits. Subtle and minimalistic filmmaking has always been hit or miss for me. I love Tom McCarthy’s nearly non-presence in “Spotlight,” but Jeff Nichols’ removed touch with “Loving” didn’t work in a film with such high stakes.

FILM REVIEW: ‘The Climb’ is simple, funny and honest
“The Climb” stars Michael Angelo Covino and Kyle Marvin as two lifelong friends and glimpses into their lives over several years. Covino and Marvin also wrote the script, as Covino directs and Gayle Rankin, Talia Balsam, George Wendt and Judith Godrèche also star.
Film Review: The good, the bad, and 'The Irishman'
By David Palmer Thursday Nov 7, 2019 at 3:58 AM Some stellar performances in Martin Scorsese's latest film offset the length and the distractions of de-aging tech “The Irishman” is the latest film from Martin Scorsese and has been anticipated as much for its cast and director as it was for its infamous budget issues, extensive use of de-aging technology and being Netflix’s biggest and most ambitious release to-date.
Movie review: ‘A Ghost Story’ easy to admire, hard to enjoy
David Palmer I think David Lowery following up a $65 million Disney blockbuster with a $100,000 adult drama is the definition of Hollywood’s “one for them, one for me” rule.“A Ghost Story” follows the soul of a recently deceased man (Casey Affleck) who returns to the home he shared with his girlfriend (Rooney Mara). David Lowery writes and directs.Despite what the title and poster may imply, this is not a horror film.

Review: ‘Baby Driver’ doesn’t live up to the hype
David Palmer Every time I see Kevin Spacey in something, I’m reminded how much I love seeing Kevin Spacey in things. “Baby Driver” stars Ansel Elgort as a young getaway driver for a crime boss (Spacey) who has to do one last job before getting out of the life and running away with his girlfriend (Lily James).

Independence Day: Resurgence movie review
Hahaha... ok. Let's do this."Independence Day: Resurgence" is the sequel to the 1996 "Independence Day" film that exploded in popularity and has come to define pretty much everything about 90s action films and the summer blockbuster in general. The plot of this movie is: the aliens come back.
Column: ‘The Revenant’ might earn Leo DiCaprio his Oscar
I think this is it. I think Leo will finally get his Oscar."The Revenant" stars Leonardo DiCaprio as 1820's frontiersman Hugh Glass, who after being mauled by a grizzly bear is abandoned by his fur trading company (Tom Hardy and Will Poulter).
