Serious Business
I have in past blogs brought to the attention of EWA members solicitation efforts from the likes of Federal Licensing and Federal License Management who advise licensees on the need to renew FCC licenses in a timely manner or potentially face financial forfeitures and/or time in the Big House in upstate New York (just kidding). The threats are, however, tiresome and excessive.
FRS 102 revenue recognition changes are coming: is your business ready?
20 Aug 2026 Share on Facebook Share on LinkedIn Changes are coming to revenue recognition under FRS 102 for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026. While much of the focus has been on the lease accounting changes being introduced at the same time, businesses should not overlook the potential impact of the revised revenue recognition requirements.
Is this a level playing field?
Is this a level playing field? The four public safety (PS) frequency advisory committees (FACs) process requests for 150-470 MHz channels affording all applicants an exclusive frequency assignment. Is this process supported by the rules? It is not. But should EWA care that the PS FACs conduct business this way, or as they call it, under their “coordination philosophy?” We don’t. They can do whatever they want.
EWA Disputes Public Safety’s Justification to Access Industrial/Business Channels
The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) has submitted Reply Comments in The City of Beacon Fire Department, New York (Beacon) waiver request to use an Industrial/Business (IB) UHF channel under the premise that there are no public safety UHF channels available for use by Beacon.

EWA Supports Doyle Fire District Waiver
The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) filed comments supporting a waiver request by the Doyle Fire District near Buffalo, New York to add a single UHF Industrial/Business (I/B) repeater pair to supplement its current UHF mobile-only system. EWA’s comments emphasized that while we support the waiver request, we trust that Doyle Fire District is aware that the I/B channel they secure, assuming the FCC grants the waiver request, will be shared with current and future I/B entities.

EWA Requests Reasonable Protections for 6 GHz Incumbents
The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) filed reply comments today urging the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to refine its 6 GHz rules to better protect licensed operations, which often support critical infrastructure, while still enabling expanded unlicensed use of the band. To achieve these objectives, EWA urged the Commission to re-evaluate and revise its Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) propagation model.
EWA Reaffirms Support for BART's 4.9 GHZ Waiver
The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) filed reply comments yesterday with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reaffirming support for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District's (BART) application and waiver request to continue deployment of its 4.9 GHz communications system.
Yet Another Dubious Idea
If the Public Safety Spectrum Alliance’s (PSSA) objective was truthfully to “raise awareness about public safety communication needs, including the use of the 4.9 GHz Band,” they would unequivocally support the waiver request filed by the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART). BART plans to add an additional 1,500 fixed stations to its existing system within its present, licensed geographic area. PSSA is urging the FCC not to act but to punt to the future 4.9 GHz Band Manager.
EWA Endorses 4.9 GHz Waiver Request
The Enterprise Wireless Alliance filed comments with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) supporting a waiver request from the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) to continue deployment of its 4.9 GHz Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) system.
Hull street with links to Carry On and 'England's fattest man'
Paul Schofield outside the listed former home of Christopher Pickering in Coltman Street, Hull [BBC] Tucked away in the middle of Hull is an unassuming street with a colourful past. Over the past two centuries, it has been home to a World War One spy, the director of the Carry On films and the founder of one of the UK's most influential theatre companies – not to mention that it takes its name from the family of England's "fattest vicar".

Exploring the views of key stakeholders on dementia risk prediction in primary care in areas of socioeconomic deprivation: a qualitative study
Abstract Background There is growing interest in personalised approaches to dementia risk assessment and prevention. Risk prediction tools can estimate an individual’s likelihood of developing dementia, but none are currently used clinically. Socioeconomic deprivation may reduce opportunities for individuals to engage in healthy behaviours that support brain health even if risk is determined.
EWA Supports Expanding 900 MHz Broadband Opportunities
EWA filed an ex parte letter today at the FCC after Chairman Carr announced that the Commission expects to adopt a Report and Order (R&O) at its February meeting expanding the 900 MHz broadband opportunity for utilities and other critical infrastructure users.
Exploring the views of key stakeholders on dementia risk prediction in primary care in areas of socioeconomic deprivation: a qualitative study
Those living in areas of socioeconomic deprivation are at increased risk of chronic diseases including dementia. Although risk assessment models have been developed to predict an individual’s future risk of dementia, few studies have focused on how to implement dementia risk assessment. This multi-regional qualitative study, which includes views from those living in areas of socioeconomic deprivation, brings together the views of key stakeholders in this process.

The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) submitted comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today supporting efforts by the Safer Buildings Coalition (SBC) to address persistent interference issues caused by improperly deployed signal boosters affecting public safety radio systems. FCC Closures - Impact on EWA Frequency Coordination Activities
Given the “partial lapse” in federal government funding, the Federal Communications Commission has suspended most operations effective 12:00:01 a.m. EDT on October 1, 2025. During a suspension of normal operations some public facing filing systems and databases will remain available while others will not. Systems and processes of immediate impact to the majority of EWA membership include the following: EWA’s Frequency Coordination and license preparation activities are not impacted.
Not Our Sandbox | Enterprise Wireless Alliance
I am at a loss to understand why APCO would want to duplicate Federal Licensing’s notorious strategy of contacting licensees and warning them of dire consequences should they fail to confirm with the FCC that their new radio system is constructed and operational. “We (APCO) are notifying you because failure to meet this requirement may result in the FCC terminating part or all of your license(s) … Mention this email and get a 10% discount off AFC’s construction/buildout fee.

Comic Relief | Enterprise Wireless Alliance
The New York Metropolitan Transit Authority (NYMTA), let’s just agree, has some rather critical responsibilities serving the daily subway transportation needs of the millions of citizens of New York City and adjacent areas, plus visitors to the city. They have invested billions of dollars during a multi-year project to deploy new technologies in the 4.9 GHz band, and they need to expand their wireless capabilities within their existing geographic footprint.

EWA Advocates for 800 MHz General Category Classification in Support of Monsey Fire District
The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) announced today that it has submitted comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in support of the Monsey Fire District’s waiver request to add an 800 MHz Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) Pool channel to its system. EWA urges the FCC to grant this application without further delay.
800/900 MHz SMR Regulatory Status
The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) has filed a Petition for Declaratory Ruling with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) seeking confirmation that 800/900 MHz Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) systems that are not interconnected are private mobile systems and should not be classified or regulated as common carriers. Such a ruling would be consistent with the Communications Act of 1934 and a recent court decision regarding mobile broadband regulations.
This Proves Our Point
As we have advocated, consolidating 800 MHz spectrum into one general category pool is sound spectrum management, benefits applicants, and saves the FCC from wasting its time on slam-dunk licensing outcomes. So along comes the Monsey Fire District in New York that needs to expand its 800 MHz capacity by adding another 800 MHz channel pair.

An “Administrative Update Division?” Why Not?
An “Administrative Update Division?” Why Not? The private land mobile industry just loves solicitations from Federal Licensing, Inc. Their latest effort cluttering your mailbox concerns email addresses. To be clear, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) does not have an “Administrative Update Division,” despite Federal Licensing’s almost laughable effort to induce you to think they do.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Coalition Reply Comments - NextNav Petition
We use EWA for all of our FCC license applications. The staff at EWA provide outstanding customer service and do all they can to see that applications are granted. EWA does a super job of staying on top of situations that affect our ability to file license applications and serve customers. EWA’s Regulatory Call keeps us informed about what is happening with the FCC and their online systems.
EWA Comments re: NextNav Petition
It’s not just about finding frequencies. It’s about finding the RIGHT frequencies for that customer, and EWA excels every time at that. We would not be moving forward without EWA. The advocacy and regulatory issues are very important to our business, and, without EWA, we would have no voice. Nobody is speaking up for players like us in Washington except EWA. It’s remarkable what we’ve been able to do with EWA’s support.

What happens when the church takes responsibility for its own Bible translation?
A major shift in Bible translation is happening. The growth of the global church, coupled with the reach and capability of digital technology, is enabling the Church to play a key role in Bible translation and the broad distribution of translated Scriptures. Traditional Bible translation methods have provided scriptures for millions of people but cannot keep pace with the demand. However, over time other options started emerging, and the Church wanted to take responsibility.
