What was your first job as a journalist?

The Barnstable Patriot, May 2006

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Never professionally.

How is social media changing news?

It's based on deciphering from what is valid information versus reactionary propaganda.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

William Miller from "Almost Famous"

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To be inquisitive about the world around you and write about what stimulates your curiosity.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Through e-mail. Always in writing.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter

Who do you wish followed you?

I don't look for followers as much as I do people curious about the arts.

Why did you become a journalist?

I enjoy writing about what makes me curious.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Wrote film reviews, school functions, and op-eds.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

You can't spell "catharsis" without "art".

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime. Writing is not a 9 to 5 gig.

What's your favorite drink?

Brown Ale or Red Wine, Simple pleasures.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

In my living room watching the Criterion Channel.
