Rogelio Guerra Vasquez, 68, was captured in Mexico on Wednesday morning, according to a Facebook post from his daughter, Emily Ross. Orange County District Attorney Krispen Walker confirmed to 12News he was arrested for the 1997 murder of Sugie Vasquez and said it was an Orange Police Department case.
Groves may add City Ambulance as backup to Acadian over response times
Groves City Council members will decide Monday whether to add a backup ambulance company for times when the city's main provider cannot respond fast enough. The council will vote on a six-month trial agreement with City Ambulance Service. The deal would start Nov. 1 if approved. The item was set aside earlier, so council members must first bring it back to the table before they can vote on it. Acadian Ambulance has been the only ambulance company serving Groves for more than 12 years.
Orange trash bill may rise about $2.32 a month; council votes Tuesday
Orange homes would pay $38.04 a month for trash pickup, up 6.5%, if the City Council gives final approval to new rates Tuesday. The new price would start with the first bills sent in November. Based on the 6.5% figure, a typical household would pay about $2.32 more each month, or roughly $28 more over a year. The council meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the City Council Chambers at the Orange Public Library Auditorium, 220 N. Fifth St. Council members gave the rates a first vote Sept. 22.
