Captain David Schnell accrued over 26 years of experience as an officer in the United States Navy before receiving an honorable discharge in 2010. During his naval career, he served in leadership capacities of substantial responsibility, including command of two U.S. Navy warships. In 2003, he became commanding officer of the USS Ford, a missile frigate housing 250 members of an aircraft carrier strike group. Captain David Schnell then served for two years as branch chief of the Global War on Terrorism Directorate.
In 2006, Captain Schnell began a year-long term as staff officer of the Deep Blue Directorate in Washington, D.C. He acted as principal technical advisor for the chief of naval operations regarding the development and use of military technology. Before retiring from his career, he earned a number of awards for his service, including the Meritorious Service Medal with three stars, a Joint Service Commendation, and a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Today, Schnell coordinates technology-based solutions for toll collection and automobile services throughout Los Angeles as a Xerox America ACSGT (Americas Commercial & State Government Transportation) general manager.
