David Barrick is an accomplished leader whose career spans public administration, corporate governance, and environmental stewardship. David has experience in political science and executive hands-on work, and is known for his strategic thinking, fiscal accountability, and commitment to sustainable development.
A former elected official, some of his major roles included Chief Administrative Officer at the City of Brampton, Niagara Region Budget Chair, and senior leadership positions at Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority. He also served as a Regional Municipality of Niagara Councillor and a Police Services board member. In these positions, David has led multimillion-dollar and billion-dollar organizations facing complex challenges and realigning them with shifting priorities and newfound opportunities.
David’s management philosophy, developed during decades of balancing budgets, managing teams, and delivering essential services, focuses on collaboration, accountability, and tangible impact. His work has benefited organizational performance and communities. Having worked abroad, he sees problems and decision-making from a global perspective, allowing for creative problem-solving with a compassionate approach.
David is committed to environmental sustainability, integrating ecological responsibility into all facets of his professional life. He has been recognized on a national scale for his campaigns in conservation and climate-aware governance, including Forbes Canada’s Best Employer Top 100 in 2020 and 2021.
David is an advocate of lifelong learning. He holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a focus on law from Brock University. He also earned several executive certifications at York University’s Smith School of Business. Other programs that he attended include the Safe Drinking Water Program and Conservation Ontario, reflecting his dedication to the well-being of people and the environment.
