North Carolina journalist Davin Eldridge first got his start in the industry back in August of 2018. He began as a stringer for a small independent weekly, The Macon County News & Shopping Guide, and quickly worked his way up, covering all beats along the way. During the majority of his six-and-a-half years there, Eldridge produced roughly half the original content as staff writer while expanding his coverage of regional and statewide matters.
The scope of his portfolio at that time grew through his work as a freelance with Asheville Citizen-Times, Mountain XPress, Carolina Public Press and other publications. Eldridge then eventually earned his AA from Southwestern Community College, before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He's since worked in public and commercial radio for over three years -- both nationally and regionally. Last year he broke into video and podcasting.
When Eldridge isn't freelancing for area news outlets, he can be found working on his cosmic-punk fantasy novel or producing his latest investigative report. Eldridge is the publisher and editor of emerging online news blog www.Trappalachia.com -- which covers crime, courts, politics and culture in Southern Appalachia. The site was launched in April 2018, and has exposed numerous instances official impropriety and misconduct. Eldridge is no stranger to controversy. His audience has seen steady growth, and now averages over 19,000 unique visitors each month (Oct. 2019).
Eldridge enjoys painting, cooking, reading and Netflixing. His favorite food is spaghetti, but there's nobody he loves more than his little puppy-pie Chihuahua, Peanut.
