Resource-efficient and stable nitrogen removal from human urine at low or no dilution by partial nitritation/anammox in a rotating biological contactor
Abstract Decentral, source-separated urine treatment with partial nitritation/anammox (PN/A) provides a resource-efficient way to remove nitrogen from sewage. Utilizing a rotating biological contactor (RBC), this study investigated the long-term efficacy of treating real, human urine with PN/A over a wide range of urine concentrations, ranging from very dilute (0.6 g N L−1) to undiluted urine (5 g N L−1).

The impact of intensive care strain on patients’ outcomes—a multinational observational cohort (UNITE-COVID) study - Critical Care
Overall, in 2020, we had data from 4976 patients across 280 ICUs, spanning 45 countries and 5 continents. In 2021, participation was lower, but remained substantial and broad-based with 2503 patients from 37 countries across 5 continents. 69 ICUs participated in both years, providing a comparison for “matched units”. Patient-level data is presented in Table 1. Despite the changes in provision of evidence-based therapeutics [18], overall mortality was higher in 2021.

Endometriosis and risk of depression among oral contraceptive users: a pooled analysis of cohort studies from 13 countries
Endometriosis, a heterogeneous chronic condition characterized by the growth of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterine cavity (Horne et al., 2017), is often considered a benign gynecological condition. However, endometriosis significantly impacts the health of women.

Mechanical Characterization of GFRP Tiled Laminates for Structural Engineering Applications: Stiffness, Strength and Failure Mechanisms
1. Introduction Bridges are typically constructed in reinforced concrete or steel and for small-span bridges perhaps in timber. In recent decades, a promising new material has slowly entered the civil engineering market: fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) [1,2,3,4,5]. This material originates from the aerospace and aviation industry, where it has been in use for many years, mainly due to its remarkable strength-to-weight ratio.

Validated risk prediction models for outcomes of acute kidney injury: a systematic review - BMC Nephrology
Acute kidney injury (AKI) among hospitalized patients is characterized by a sudden decline in renal function and is associated with poor long-term and short-term outcomes [1]. The overall incidence of AKI in hospital patients ranges between 7 and 22%, and it ranges from 20 to 50% in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients [2, 3]. Increasing incidences of AKI have been reported, especially among low- to middle-income countries [4], and this is likely due to an increasingly complex patient population.
