Graph Neural Additive Networks (GNANs) have emerged as effective, interpretable-by-design architectures for graph learning. They achieve transparency by combining per-feature shape functions with simple distance-based reweighting. However, GNANs have three limitations. First, node-wise relevance scores aggregate information from all graph nodes, allowing irrelevant nodes to inherit spurious relevance from relevant ones.

We develop a macroscopic fluctuation theory for diffusive classical lattice gases subject to continuous coarse-grained monitoring. Treating measurements in the typical-outcome (quenched) regime, we show that observation adds a quadratic confining term to the MFT action that pins the density to its hydrodynamic profile.
Adapting the Girandole framework for cross-disciplinary social justice reflection in health professions education
Abstract Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are increasingly embedded within the standards and strategic priorities of health professions education. However, persistent inequities, hidden curricula and differences between institutional commitments and learners' lived experiences indicate a need for approaches that move beyond policy compliance towards critical, socially informed reflection.

Brushite-modified titanium surface elicits early osteointegrative gene expression signatures in human mesenchymal stem cells: insights from NGS analysis
Abstract Brushite (dicalcium phosphate dihydrate) is a resorbable coating with significant potential to enhance implant osseointegration. However, the early molecular mechanisms through which it directs mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) behavior remain poorly understood. This study investigates the early transcriptional response of human MSCs cultured on brushite-coated Ti6Al4V compared to uncoated titanium at 7 days, a critical regulatory window that precedes overt differentiation.

Controlling the shape of a continuum soft robot typically requires an accurate dynamic model and actuation of all degrees of freedom. We show that regulating only the actuated coordinates, through collocated shape control, achieves provably stable convergence of those coordinates and, under an explicit compatibility condition, of the entire robot shape.
[2609.28623] Observation of Universal Quantum Chaos at Shallow Depths
Universal statistical laws are a hallmark of quantum chaos, usually associated with the loss of spatial structure. Here we show, theoretically and experimentally, that universality emerges already at shallow depths in chaotic quantum circuits. We derive universal distributions of output-probability fluctuations and test them on a programmable superconducting processor.

We study the Bayesian monitoring of a single particle diffusing along a line, while an observer tracks it continuously using noisy measurements at each spatial point. The average Shannon entropy $\overline{S(t)}$ associated with the posterior distribution of the particle's position quantifies the uncertainty that remains after conditioning on the sequence of measurements.

Standard models for stellar core collapse predict the birth of neutron stars with masses exceeding a solar mass. In the collapsar model, a rapidly rotating massive star collapses to a black hole surrounded by a dense, neutrino-cooled accretion disk, whose outer regions may in some cases fragment into neutron-rich clumps that collapse to form subsolar-mass neutron stars.

Biological knowledgebases like Reactome provide high-quality pathways that include biological elements' relationships and textual descriptions (metadata). The quality of such pathways is granted by manual curation, that presents, however, significant scalability challenges. Lately, numerous NLP tools have been proposed to cope with this issue, leveraging textual information to automatically expand biological knowledgebases.
Micro- and nanoplastics remodel the autophagy-lysosomal axis and mitochondrial function in primary human monocytes
Abstract Background: Micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) are increasingly detected in human tissues, raising concerns regarding their potential impact on immune cell function. Monocytes are among the first immune cells to encounter and internalize these particles. However, the intracellular mechanisms triggered by MNPs exposure remain poorly understood. Methods: Primary human monocytes were exposed to 25µg/mL of polystyrene (PS) MNPs ranging from 0.5 to 5 µm.

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) can solve prediction tasks by unintentionally exploiting shortcuts---that is, edges, nodes, and features that correlate with but are not causal for the prediction---which compromise their reliability in out-of-distribution tasks. We introduce XIGL, an architecture-agnostic human-in-the-loop strategy for removing such shortcuts from GNNs. Our key insight is twofold.
