Cleaning the Glass; Syracuse's Offensive rebounding snaps losing streak
Syracuse Women’s basketball (2-2) defeated the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights (4-1) at home on Sunday afternoon 77-58. The result means that Syracuse moves to .500 on the season, snapping the Knights’ undefeated start to the season. The Orange found momentum early, jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the opening three minutes. Kyra Wood and Izabel Varejao helped energize the offense as Syracuse led FDU 20-4 in points in the paint during the first half.
Relentless Maryland offense overpowers Syracuse
Inconsistent play has plagued Syracuse the first two games, and it returned here. In a big way, just like it did against Saint Joseph’s on Sunday. Despite a late-game surge, No. 11 Maryland’s relentless offense proved too much for Syracuse as they downed the Orange 84-73. Syracuse played a well-rounded first quarter, springboarded by eight straight for Senior Georgia Wooley. Issues that the team saw on Sunday against Saint Joseph’s were still present, but the Orange defense and offense worked well.

In just the second game of the season, Syracuse Women’s Basketball displayed its weaknesses in the 84-70 loss against St. Joseph’s earlier today. The result surprised the Orange faithful, one that nobody saw coming under the current regime. The game had its ups and downs for both teams; however, the Orange made the wrong plays at the wrong time. In the first quarter, SU wasted no time putting the pedal to the metal.
Orange cruise past Slippery Rock and extends exhibition streak
Syracuse Men’s Basketball finished their preseason with an exhibition matchup against Division II opponent Slippery Rock University. It was smooth sailing for the Orange, who crushed the Rock 96-51, achieving their 29th straight exhibition game victory. Syracuse fired an utter barrage from three at Slippery Rock, taking plenty more shots from three than last season. They attempted the three-ball on average 20 times last year, nearly meeting that mark at halftime with 17.
