What was your first job as a journalist?
I wrote for Yahoo! Voices many years ago. I loved writing there and had so many fun assignments.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Of course!!! EVERY writer should use a typewriter at LEAST once. I don't care how old you are.
How is social media changing news?
I think social media has caused people to read headlines only. They'll read a headline and think they know the entire story.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Lois Lane, of course.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
My phone is my connection to everything. I also love my MacBook. Canva, Over, Google Drive- they're my best friends! lol
What's your favorite social network?
I am really not a fan of any of them. I use them because I have to. But if I had to pick one, I'd say Instagram or Facebook.
Who do you wish followed you?
The late Paul Reubens (can he follow from the other side?), Tara Strong, Elizabeth Gilbert, Tim Burton, Bill Joyce, Neil Gaiman, Mark Hamill.
Why did you become a journalist?
I've been writing since as long as I can remember. There are always stories and ideas in my head. I love communicating with the world!
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I never felt like I fit in at school so I didn't join the newspaper. I did submit writing to our literary magazine though, and college, too.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I've been working on a book of my own short stories and I am VERY proud of that. I'm also proud of the Momma Musings pieces on my website.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Do your research! Polish your writing. Use your own voice and be your authentic self.
What's your favorite drink?
Alcoholic: Vodka Cranberry. Non-alcoholic: Starbuck's Mango Dragonfruit Refresher
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
If it's summer, I'm in the pool. If it's winter, I'm in the sauna. In all seasons, I'm walking my dog!
